The easiest thing to do is use Scratch Live for this.

Either turn on the preference for auto-gain, or option-click on the "deck" volume knob when a file is loaded.

I put in a feature-request a long time ago for a high-quality "mastering EQ" (not intended for "effect" use...one with linear-phase filters suitable for "mastering") that would save parameters to files similar to gain, cuepoints, etc.

This would be especially useful for situations where the only available audio source is lossy-encoded.

right... which happens alot with videos
thats why i want it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I end up replacing a lot of audio in videos. But, either way SSL works best for for this.

Demux your file, take the aiff into an audio editor, boost the volume and eq it, save it, and remux it back. See a-swift's tutorials on how to do this.

If you have MPEG Streamclip to encode your files from vob to mp4 you can go under adjustments and set it for volume leveling when converting.

If you don't want to do that for each file use auto-gain.
