How many of you are on the iPad train?

djpuma_gemini 3:49 PM 15 March 2010
Why are people so intrigued with this thing, it's a big ass iphone with no other major features. So now you can surf websites even bigger and still see the lego block for the flash plugin.

Who here actually pre-ordered the iPad and why?

I for one don't give a crap about the iPad and think it's not as great as people make it out to be.

And No I'm not a Mac hater. I own several mac products and prefer them over pc's, but the ipad fell short of the "rumored" tablet that it was meant to be.
Dj-M.Bezzle 3:50 PM 15 March 2010
im not into it at all BUT, theres a voice in the back of my head telling me that when apple puts out products you think will be useless after about 6 months theyll pop up with something that will make sense of it
BriChi 3:54 PM 15 March 2010
I use and love Mac computers BUT the iPad in my opinion is a major let down, They should have made it to the point of running OSX not the iPhone OS, Now because it runs the iPhone OS, you cannot install regular software like you would a Mac computer, the App HAS to be developed specifically for the iPad like the iPhone which sux, I know i will certainly not own one
Free Man 4:05 PM 15 March 2010
I had seen an article that showed something really cool. It was basically an iMac with a removable tablet. so basically when you take the tablet out the computer (iMac) is just a shell, and the tablet is what holds ALL of the information
DJ Sniffles 4:29 PM 15 March 2010
There are some very very nice customizable midi controlling apps that cost less than $10. That coupled with their interfaces will make an ipad rival that of a $2500 Jazzmutant Lemur.
VJ Justin Allen 4:57 PM 15 March 2010
I already ordered one.
djpuma_gemini 5:02 PM 15 March 2010
What do you see is the major difference between the iPad and an iPhone? (besides size)
FunkyRob 11:58 PM 15 March 2010
^^^ you'd look pretty silly holding an ipad up to your ear, not so much with the iphone.
sixxx 11:59 PM 15 March 2010
Is the iPad for females ages 10+?
djpuma_gemini 12:31 AM 16 March 2010
pretty much
Turn Table Tennis 12:38 AM 16 March 2010
I was at the apple store buying some shit and the "genius" asked me if i was at all interested in the iPad. I cut him off and said "absolutely not, i don't even care that it exists. it has nothing to offer me." all he said was "fair enough."

I own A LOT of apple products, from an old powermac g4 to a new mbp, and looking at a mac pro, but the ipad is a fuckin toy. If I have something to carry around a 10 inch pad, i can just pop the macbook in my book bag.
djpuma_gemini 12:50 AM 16 March 2010
and at least the macbook can function as a full fledged computer with full web browsing capabilities.
mister iLL 3:07 AM 16 March 2010
im kinda hyped to see what the ipad can do in the 2nd and 3rd generations. no way i ned to buy one now tho

interesting...
latindj 4:54 AM 16 March 2010
when I saw the iPad I immediately thought of those really big remote controls they make so you don't lose it or for old people to be able to use....that's what I think of the iPad...a really big iPhone for the dumbass who loses his phone or for the old farts who need a bigger screen/keyboard...
DJ Josh V 5:55 AM 16 March 2010
I agree with all the other negative comments about this thing, however,If I was rich Id buy one just cause I could but being that Im not rich, I wont :-(

The first iPod held 5GB of Music and was selling for $400, that was before the iTunes store, video on the iPod, and iPod touch Apps. I thought the iPod would be a major failure for Apple when I saw it introduced at Macworld almost 10 years ago. I was wrong.

The first iPad does suck BUT look down the road a bit. Movies, TV Shows, Kindle replacement, Digital interactive Magazines, extension of your TV (TV on the go). Maybe around the 3rd Generation iPad, it will replace the laptop for most folks as the features get better and price goes down.

I finally broke down and bought a iPod around Gen 3. Features, price point, and 3rd Party support finally made it worth it (Alpine made iPod ready decks for Car Radio, pushed me over the edge).

The iPad as it will ship in a few weeks isn't worth it YET but just wait....

ya, if you think about it most people just use their laptop for the most basic functions, music email, videos, they dont need the raw costly processing power

Me personally i DL and read comic books online and this would be DOPE if it wasnt for the cost since my iphone screen is too small to enjoy them on the go but i have better things to do alot of the time when im at home
latindj 3:47 PM 16 March 2010
^yeah we can surely tell....
djpuma_gemini 3:52 PM 16 March 2010
I want to hold the ipad landscape mode and drive off road and look like a total retard with a big ass rectangle in my hand.

They should have waited and made it a true tablet, they didn't make anything revolutionary, like Steve mentioned in the keynote.

maybe they should fix this beef between them and intel so we can get some i7 macbok pros up in here.

Fucking apple tv come one.

I either watch hidef shit from my mbp to my tv or I put the low res stuff on a flash drive and pop it into my ps3.

iPhone made that go on the back burner, movies on a 3" screen wasn't "Steve jobs like" - iPad will become the new portable Apple tv - keyword is content deal - like iPod & iTunes for music.

Wotch.... It will happen, & apple tv will probably also make a comeback
bgardali 10:19 PM 16 March 2010
I'm an Apple fan and a long time Apple user but I don't see much use for one myself since I have a fantastic 2008 mpb that still runs perfectly. However I do think it's a great thing for someone like my grandma. She is very computer literate and spends a lot of time on her desktop pc trading stocks, playing games, writing emails, browsing the net, etc. A ipad would give her the freedom to do these things in front of the tv or at the table, etc. Also she travels and would get a lot of use out of having her books and audio books on there, maybe even some movies for the flight. Not to mention she can keep in touch over the net with one of the 3G versions. I think there's definitely a market for it there.

If she likes playing the flash type of games like on yahoo she'll be sorely dissapointed that the iFail doesn't do that unless they are holding out on us for some reason and not letting us know that flash is capable.

i'm pretty sure jobs said "never" when it comes to flash on his portable devices.
djpuma_gemini 11:23 PM 16 March 2010
Not never just no time soon.
I think the iphone, ipad, ipod touch isn't powerful enough to handle flash since it's so processor intense, but Steve Jobs says flash is so 2000 and late even though 95% of the world still uses it.

Look at new info about flash and the iPon

The games she plays are simplistic word and puzzle games that buys or downloads. There are a lot of these available for the iphone/ipad.
tehBEN 11:56 PM 16 March 2010
my 2cents ... no matter how cool it may be, I can't find anything to justify spending money on something that looks like an oversized iPhone boasting a name that is better suited to a tampon.
djpuma_gemini 11:58 PM 16 March 2010
^exactly.

This doesn't have any great benefits over an iphone or ipod touch and nothing near as close to a macbook.

For 700 you can buy an old macbook and have a full fledged os with a real usb port and full web browsing.

Shit, but a netbook and your straight. (just no mac os)
Dj-M.Bezzle 12:45 AM 17 March 2010
whats sad is a seperate operationg system would have given the product a whole new life
NO DJ 3:05 PM 29 May 2010
So my bet for the iPad is a more affordable Lemur, like the link below.

I was interested in the iPad until I found out that it didn't have a front facing camera. Hopefully the camera and increased storage will be added in the next edition or I will still be waiting...lol I could get away with using the current one but prefer to not have to upgrade or end up with multiple generations of the same product again.
NO DJ 5:38 PM 7 July 2010
MIDI Deck is a touch screen controller for iPad and is free until July 10th!
Find it in the iTunes Store
