What features would you like to see in Serato software?
WAV Lock

An idea i had when i accidentally clicked on one of the wav displays (the smaller, fixed one, not the moving wavs)...
Just throw a check box in the setup menu next to "lock playing deck" to engage this potential feature... Obvious result would be not being able to scrub thru the track on the small wav display but would make it so an inadvertent mouse click wouldn't bring the playing track back to the beginning...

wow i didn't even know there was a fixed-waveform option (don't have my own Serato yet).
does the fixed-wave display show the line moving across it like a needle on a record, then? that seems much more useful than bits of wave flying by with no advanced warning of what's coming up.

you can make the view of the Wav's smaller/ bigger in order to see what's coming just within the scrolling wav.
And yes.... go get eet....

NOoooo you can only get like 30 second window with that. i need the waveform to be displayed in full and NOT moving, with the only thing, moving being the little line going across it, just like the display you get when you play a file on Soundcloud, to give an example. That's what i need, anything use, i won't even look at, i'll just turn the wavefom off altogether if that's the best it can do, and would also switch software oif there was another one that did it where Serato didn't as this is a HUGE issue for me as someone who's still spinning vinyl and not wantng to give up one of its main practical advantages, which is being able to see the whole track and your position in it at-a-glance.
But deepdjdanny says that static waveform is an option, so cool.
Was deepdanny wrong, Marz? Is there no option to freeze the wave and have the line move instead? If not, i really don't understand why..

I getcha now... If that's an option, it's news to me... If Serato did offer this, i gotta think it would be part of the smaller wav display for sake of space and jamming as many features on the screen as possible...
The more and more i think about MY feature recommendation, i don't like it (except for in stack mode...) Now i just want root note detection with every overview build and the ableton bridge.... Then i'm a happy martian

and susan, Just sos there's some clarity...
In 3/4 of the views in SSL, there's a large WAV display... These are put in opposition of each other so you can compare the variants in the song and match them a little tighter and faster... The other view is just the SMALL WAV and some info, and the small WAV always has a little white arrow that points to the playing position in the song...
I've found that people who see this option who are coming str8 over from vinyl LOVE this last view... In concert with absolute mode it's as close to spinning vinyl tracks to the real thing as you can get...

thanks marz, may your atmosphere always support Serato-based lifeforms!
do you know if you can get that small-wav option in Stacked view? that'll likely be what i've got up 99% of the time as i like to spin on 3 decks whenever possible. sold my old 12's awhile back and got 2 M3D's but will be replacing that 3rd one eventually and absolutely gotta have software that lets me monitor all 3 vinyl-style.
wish they had a mode that just plasters it right across the top of the screen like Torq, but with a static waveform like i'm describing. that in a stacked view would be the kind.
that is until we have cd decks that project a groove image from Serato onto a spinning platter-screen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (!!!)

I currently own three... ( I modify and repair techs BTW.... if you want your decks pimped, peep my work out... www.12x0.de)
Stack mode DOES have the fixed smaller WAVs
Ever seen the touch screen turntables? (Watchwww.youtube.com) Don't like em, but they're interesting fo sho...

As a matter of fact i DO want my decks pimped.. gotcha bookmarked! got hella major purchases coming up, but eventually wanna have all my LED's made light purple/lavendar, and maybe my "28" logo (number 28 inside a triangle of 3 dots, an admitted bite on Current 93, but flatteringly so i think as it expounds on their philosophy) somewhere. cool beans~
Stack mode + fixed wave = 28th current, mmmmmmmmmmm!!
and ya i've seen those touch-decks. not into touchscreens for manual tasks but A for effort for sure.
there's another one that's part of a full touchscreen system, mixer and all, with the computer built into the mixer part. i think i could deal with touchscreen decks better than touchscreen mixer, tho. also these decks actually simulated rotation kinda like what i was describing, only my idea wasn't touchscreen per se, more like a cdj2000 with a rotating platter that was transparent and had the image of the song's unique "record grooves" somehow projected from underneath.
i should prolly start posting that on some forums and plant the seed, though if doable at all it would be way off. but i think it's a great idea and the sort of thing i might even invest some money developing if someone was game. somehow, some way, we really need to recapture more of what we lost in vinyl, and that quick break/position reference is way up there and so far this small-wav display seems to be as close as it gets.
