I say you buy a regular case and buy a seperate stand.. Buy the STATON UBER STAND. Its like 85 bucks and its portable.

I have it, its okay. There are a couple of things I don't like about it.
1. Its heavy as hell. very big and bulky to carry
2. The built in laptop stand takes up alot of room. If you were in a typical DJ booth you probably wouldn't be able to use it because when you slide the stand back it would hit the wall.
3. If I had the chance to do it all over. I would buy a standard case and an uberstand

I think that mixer case is a standard model now. It used to be a special order item about 2 yrs ago, but now you can get it for like $120-$150.

The case is good. I leave an SL1 connected to the 57SL within the case, so setup time at a show is like 10-15mins.

The 57sl mixer fits in the case loosley. To keep the 57sl from slipping out during usage and transport, you insert a bunch of these spongy, foam panels against the 2 interier sides of case so that the 57sl will fit really in the case really snug and tight. The spongy, foam panels will cover up the side vents of the 57sl, but Rane says that the 57sl does not produce much heat, so covering up the vents will not harm the mixer. The mixer case comes with these 'spongy/foam panels'.

The slide out laptop stand is ok. It does its job. The metal hinges where the laptop stand opens up are slightly higher than the carpetting. If you had a large laptop, your laptop would sit on top of the metal hinges... I did not like that , so I am using another one of the spongy foam panels to cover up the metal hinges.

My first 57sl with the odyssey case was stolen during a burglary... I re-purchased the same case and 57sl mixer again. I sorta like the case.

I wish the case had an option where I could screw down the top of the mixer to the case, but that option is not there.

On a scale of build quality (1 -10), I think the case is built at a 7-8.

+1 on the case being heavy and slightly bulky when carrying.

I modded my case and installed rack rails, my mixer got messed up because there is no way to secure it except for those spongy things. No matter how many of those spongy things you use your mixer will fall out and bounce around the inside of your case. It busted the plastic clips that attach the line and crossfader to the mixer. But if that happens have no fear because Rane is fuckin awesomne and sent the parts to me for free. Happened on a Saturday and I was back in action for the next Saturday

got the same one and yeah its ok. But if you dont like the stand part you can always take it out and use a regular stand. As far as being heavy?? its not heaver than a TT case. The main thing i dont like is that the cover of the case is alot taller than the turntable covers so if you want to stack your cases when you play you cant with these.

I am in the middle of having a custom case built, it will fit my equipment perfect (2 cdj2000's, djm800 and cordless mic receiver), I am having them build in a laptop stand exactly the way MarathonPro does it like this ep.yimg.com

the case will be cheaper then the Odyssey, lighter and smaller cause it's built to my spec, the Odysseycases are always a little bigger and heavier because they make them so a number of players and mixers can fit
