nexus one phone

skinnyguy 9:13 PM 1 March 2010
anybody here use one of these?
BriChi 11:55 PM 1 March 2010
not I but I think it's going to great once it hits Verizon
Kenny Q 1:29 PM 2 March 2010
Do you think that it's better than the iPhone?
There is rumor of iPhone going to Verizon later this year.
BriChi 2:01 PM 2 March 2010
It seems very close in comparison to the iPhone but this is from me watching YouTube vids, I haven't seen one in person yet. The iPhone coming to verizon IMO will never happen, it's been rumored year after year since it was first released. Right now AT&T contract with apple is up this summer but who knows if they will renew again or not

I would have to say that I am a proud owner of a Nexus One. Had it for a month and so far it's been great. To the point that I like it better than the iPhone
BriChi 2:49 PM 2 March 2010
good to hear from an owner, I may try it when it hits Verizon, hopefully this month

Also, I am currently using it on T-Mobile and honestly I can't complain. Guess it depends on the different markets, but here in the Midwest I get fast and consistent 3G coverage without the problems others are plagued with. The phone is very responsive (thanks to the snapdragon processor) and it's very thin and sleek. The screen is nice and big with a great resolution. Coming from a BB, i thought I was going to miss the physical keyboard but I got used to the touch keyboard in about a few weeks. I really like the predictive word suggestion system it uses. I've also used an iPhone, and as great and simple as that phone is, the Nexus One beats it hands down. Just wish the trackball would of been replaced with a touchpad like new BB's.

i thought nexus was a hair care products company.
djchriscruz 7:14 PM 2 March 2010
The only thing that hinders its success is that Google is forcing you to have your own individual plan with it. So you can't have a nexus one on a family plan. So you're forced to pay $80 a month to use it. I just hope when it comes to Verizon I can use it on a family plan.
Kenny Q 8:16 PM 2 March 2010
I've been with Verizon for the last few years. I almost left Verizon because I wanted an iPhone. I'll probably get the Nexus 1 as soon as Verizon picks it up.

I think that the iPhone will always be a step ahead. I'm sure the next genereation iPhone will be out this by this fall. And since I'm a Mac user, the iPhone seems like the right choice.

Why would iPhone users want to consider the Nexus 1? Is it AT&T?

what makes the nexus so much better than the iphone?

do you have any touchscreen issues or any other noticeable issues?

one thing that makes me a bit hesitant about using a phone with android is how google is just getting EVERYWHERE and requiring personal info about you uploaded onto their servers and how they analyze your browsing habits and whatever. kinda big-brother-ish.

from what i've read, rumors are that the next iphone will be capable to be on either gsm or cdma networks. that would open it up to tmobile (with new hardware to make use of tmo's 3g network) and verizon.

bri - i thought u were the guy that worked for tmo?
BriChi 10:01 PM 2 March 2010
my problem is ATT, Not the iPhone, ATT by me drops calls a lot
Kenny Q 12:48 AM 3 March 2010
The Verizon iPhone will hurt AT&T unless they change.
capoeira69 3:37 PM 3 March 2010
Actually djchriscruz, that is not correct. I have the Nexus One on T-Mobile on a Family plan of 4. I only pay $120 for 4 phones with Unlimited Data for 2 of the phones in my plan (MyTouch 3G & Nexus One), unlimited Text, and 750 anytime minutes. I switched over to the Even more plus plan which makes it cheaper per month. Downside is you pay full price for phones (European-style). But if u do the math, u actually pay less for ur phone buying it straight up as opposed to buying it for cheap with a 2 year contract.

I don't doubt the next gen iphone is always going to be ahead of the curve, but my issue is not with the iphone but rather AT&T. I've had Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile and believe it or not, T-Mobile has been the better one out of the 3. Was thinking of jumping ship to Verizon, but after I got my new plan worked out, if I wanted the same thing on Verizon I would pay waaaaay more. Hence, no logical reason to switch over.

Touchscreen on the Nexus1 works great, no real noticeable issues. In fact for the past month this phone has been snappy and always on point. And believe me when I say I'm a tech nerd that tries to find the flaws in things. The noise-cancellation feature was weird to get used to but once u do it make calls way clearer for both parties involved.

iPhone rumors are always just rumors, unfortunately as much as I like Apple....their thing to stick with AT&T blows my mind. You can see that they are still going to stick with AT&T because of the new iPad being strictly an AT&T device for its data plan. Hopefully that will change for the iPhone, but if u always keep waiting for the next best thing you'll never end up getting anything because there's always going to be a "best next thing". So for the time being IMHO the Nexus 1 is the superior phone out there. Until the "next best thing" comes out then I will re-evaluate my previous statement.

Only to receive the discount... If you buy the phone outright, there's no need to worry about what plan you're on.

My theory is this: Google sat down and said "We're going to sell our phone to people who actually know how to use a website, and can afford our device... we don't want retards to buy our phones, and pay billions of dollars for customer support to answer user-error questions about the phone"

And that, was genious
skinnyguy 4:29 AM 4 March 2010
they had to form a customer support team anyways from some of the technical probs people have been experiencing. actual legit technical probs which had to be solved by software update and some which are yet unresolved....so it seems.
djbriguy 5:08 AM 4 March 2010
Ya, i did notice that. It's almost unavoidable to not offer some sort of live support. We've gotten so tired of people calling tmobile customer care and coming to our stores with questions about the Nexus One. We have one answer for them "It's not our phone, ask google"
djchriscruz 5:49 PM 4 March 2010
Even though Nexus one is an "iphone killer" it's hindered by its sales and distribution channels. You have to buy it through Google without any customer service to answer your questions and you have to pay the full price of $500+ to use it on your family plan. It's only geared towards the tech geeks who will pay $500 for a cell phone and could figure out problems themselves.
skinnyguy 6:16 PM 4 March 2010
murphy's law, ya know? nobody builds perfect equipment. with approx 80,000 sold, there will be people with problems either operating it or with product malfunction. can't believe they couldn't figure that out. and google chose to be the sole distributor.
capoeira69 9:35 PM 4 March 2010
--> tech geek <-- or better known as a nerd LOL

All I have to say is to each his own, I am happy with it and do not regret the purchase. Especially if u do the math u pay less by buying it at full price now. But I understand not many people can do that. But that business model seems to work everywhere else in the world but the US. Kinda like Futbol, er I mean soccer. And the Metric system.... LOL
djbriguy 4:34 AM 8 March 2010
HTC HD2 will be sweet... too bad it's windows mobile though.
Kenny Q 9:03 PM 14 March 2010
The screen on my Verizon Palm 700p phone doesn't work right anymore.
I can see the information but I can't use my pen with it.

I'm not sure if I should get a used Palm 700p from ebay ($30-$50) or just wait and get a Nexus one.

I read that the Nexus one will be available for Verizon on March 23rd.
