Does the 57SL work with Condenser mic's?

Does the 57SL work with Condenser mic's?

I just got a AKG Perception 220 to use with my 57SL, hooked it with a 1/4" to XLR cable, turned mic on and nothing.

Any ideas?

I don't think so, you need a preamp. You'll need a dynamic mic; plus the AKG will be to sensitive.

nope it doesn't...the new 68 does work with a condenser mic

some mics require phantom power (a small amount of voltage sent back through the cable to power the mic) and sound very weak without it.
I use a shure sm58 and it sounds fine for live applications...
