How good was the US goalie last night? 42 saves on 45 shots. Can he keep doing that? Discuss.

I've not watched any of the Olympics yet. How are the hockey games in general? I used to play Ice Hockey and usually get nostalgic when the games start up. Always been a fan of the old European style of hockey.

Word USA killed it. I didn't have my ID with me and I had to watch the third period through a window at the bar while I waited for a dozen homies.

The USA team is not as skilled as Canada, Russia or the Czech Rep., but they play much better as a unit and are much more patient. We definitely have a shot at a medal. Oh and I would love to rematch with Russia 30yrs after Lake Placid

Man what a bust Canada/Russia was. I was expecting that to be one of the best games of the tournament.

US & Canada each 1 win away from a rematch in the gold medal game. Ya think that would get a little hyped up? :)

The thing is that the US is playing with house money at this point -- even a silver medal would be a great accomplishment. Hell, a bronze would be too. ALL the pressure would be on Canada.
The US team is built like a TEAM is built - some guys are more role-player types. Canada built an all-star team. There's a difference. And Canada built their team to beat Russia very specifically, and they have.
But yeah, Ryan Miller is incredible.

Ryan Miller is awesome, indeed! And you can't forget how well Brian Rafalski has played. It's actually really hard for me to root against team Canada because their coach is Mike Babcock (Red Wings) and their team president is Steve Yzerman - who is the only reason I became a hockey fan....greatest captain of any team, ever.
Anyways, fuck all that...GO USA!!!

Canada may have invented hockey, but it's pretty clear they aren't the leaders they used to be....USA gave them one hell of a battle...and were were supposed to suck...ha!
good game Canada but you're lucky it's only 1 game and not best of series...

one other thing...if Canadian hockey is sooooo fucking good, then why the fuck do they all come to America to play? Get your own fucking league and we'll keep taking care of our own health thank you.

cause they can't get onto Team Canada cause they just aren't good enough! (Ex. brett hull). The majority of players in the NHL are canadian anyways so without em...nothing? haha.

You misunderstood me...I wasn't referring to the US' ability as players, I was referring to your comment about starting our own 'league', since the 'NHL' is somehow America's league. Without canadians in 'your' league, there wouldn't be much of a league.

and I stand by my comment....we have plenty of very good american athletes to fill our own league....

that was a great game. Probably one of the best games i've ever seen.
Hope it helps give the NHL a bit of a boost down south. The northern states seem to love it but it's pretty under the radar once you head south...
