When I load my music file to play Iget a loud tone. I have CD Player to input, thru and line hook up. Regular CDs play fine but teh SSL cds just give off a loud tone. Any ideas? The track moves on the screen to show that it is reading it.
Thanks

did you switch the line and phono switch when you played the ssl cd to line?

On the Mixer? No I'm running straight to the line input. I tried both on Line And Phono and the mixer
When I play a seratro CD on Line Out I get no sound.
When I play a serarto CD on Thru I get the loud tone.

Sounds like trouble...
Can you get any sound from SSL via your Line Out? Switch to internal mode, load a track into one of your decks, and then play that track using the PLAY button. Can you hear it now?

Yes A regular CD plays in Line Out.
Aren't the seracto time coded CDs suppose to play through THRU?
I can play a regula retail or burnt CD thoruhg my serato scratch amp. The time coded CDs give off the loud tone

Page 9 of the manual... internal mode. Can you hear sound from your computer music files (mp3, aiff, wav, etc) using internal mode?
When using an SSL coded CD, the music files from your computer will be heard through your Line outs.

this means something on the way your hardware is hooked up is wrong if you can hear tone. how do you have your setup wired on the behringer?
on your VMX-1000, since you're using cd players, if you want to be able to use the input select button on the top of the mixer to switch from regular cd playback to ssl playback on each channel, you need to use channels 4 and 5 on the mixer.
no, thru is when you want to play regular cds.

here's how i'd wire it up:
cd player 1 -> input 1 (on serato box)
cd player 2 -> input 2 (on serato box)
thru output 1 (on serato box) -> cd input on the vmx (channel 4)
thru output 2 (on serato box) -> cd input on the vmx (channel 5)
line output 1 (on serato box) -> line input on vmx (channel 4)
line output 2 (on serato box) -> line input on vmx (channel 5)

I did that here are the results
with SSL CD I get a loud tone on LINE (Mixer) and nothing when switched to LINE (Mixer).
With a Regular CD I get sound through the LINE (Mixer) and nothing throuh the CD (Mixer).
Could it be that something is wron gwith my SSL CDs?
All I have to do is install the white CD?
Oh and yes I am using track 1 on the SSL CDs

You have successfully installed the driver, right? You can also find it here www.scratchlive.net
Do you have like a line/phono switch on that thing?

so just to confirm everything,
You have it wired as SpinThis suggested with the thru ouputs going to the channel 4&5 CD inputs and the line outputs going to channel 4&5 line inputs?
When you play the SSL disc, can you see the tables moving on the computer screen? Can you also see an output on the VU meter?
To play SSL the inputs for channels 4&5 on your mixer should be set to line (not CD)
You should see a level on your VU meters on your mixer. If you can here the sound of the control CD (like a high pitched tone) you have wired it up wrong, you need to swap the lineouts and the thru outs on the SSL box.

if is to read original Cd it is necessary 4 entries line for you on your table... you connects your two readers in output on the SSL and you arises them by the thrusur your entries line to play the pieces of the SSL. but the two exits line of the SSL must be connected has two other entries line of your table of mixing to be able to read original Cd.

REVOLUTIONARY - according to the website the driver you are talking is the same driver that comees with the orginal CD.
NOBSPANGLE - yes everything is wired as SpinThis said. I can see output levels on mixer. (I am also getting this noise thorugh the headphones, so it is not reaching teh mixer good). I've switched every RCA cable every which way I know. Regular CDs play fine but the SSL CD doesn't play, just a loud tone.
To try an dfind the problem eaiser I'm only using one channel. I have even pu one cable (example the left channel) on THRU and the other on LINE. Same thing happens.
Maybe I'll give RANE a call today.
So to recap. I've installed teh White Installtoin CD that come with the SSL. All I did was put it in and click Setup I believe it was, and did complete install. I've since installed V1.2 I think it is. No change. Just a loud tone when using teh SSL CD (Track 1). Regular retail, burnt CDs play fine.

Aren't the seracto time coded CDs suppose to play through THRU?
No, THRU is for playing regular CD's.
When playing timecode CDs the virtual decks in SSL should spin (when a track is loaded of course) and the signal comes out line out. There is a wiring diagram in the manual explaining this.

The virtual decks in SSL spin and stop whenenver I press play, pause, cueo on my cd player. The timer goes down, teh time on teh cd player increases/decreases it loads it as a track already played. There is just a tone that comes.
Is incorrect wiring the only problem that can be causing this? It isn't difficult at all to wire this thing. I incrrectly misplaced the THRU and LINE OUT earlier when explaining how a regular CD plays that isn't the problem.

the only other variable is your mixer. instead of plugging the line outputs to your mixer, plug them into your amp/system directly if you can. if you can hear the ssl output, then your mixer is being funky.

hmmm never thought of that. My friend used his Final Scratch 2.0 over christmas on the mixer and it worked fin, only problem was that he couldn't get regular retail cds to play on it but the time coded FS cds worked with the mixer. I w ill plug directly into the amp to see if it makes a difference.
DO you think it could be someting with the CDs ? Though it would be odd that both cds that came witht he SSL were defective.
Question what is Track 2 for?

I never said it was something else than that ;)
Can you try it on another mixer? Even another system and CD players to see if it makes a difference?

for simplicity's sake to make sure we are on the same page
CD1 output -> Line 1 Input (SSL Unit)
LINE OUT SSL Unit -> any input on my amp

I don't know if this is good or bad. THis is going to sound fishy but i swear to you it's true. It worked for about 30 seconds. I started the track over and I can't get it to work again. There are no levels showing on my mixer. But I really got to get back to work :).
Thanks again

Oh ok. Then we're clear on that. Does the GUI respond to the actual things you're doing with your players? Also, what XP service pack are you using?
Maybe you could hit me up later and we can see if we can get this thing sorted.

OK breakthrough again sort of. It appears that when I disconnect/reconnect my usb adapter and start SSL everything works. But only for a short period of time. I tried with different buffer settings but that didn't change anything. The levels also stop reaching the amp when the music has stopped working
Revolutionary here are my pc stats
2.2ghz P4 NOT celeron
768 Ram
60Gig
Service Pack not sure
and whenever I bring another track onto cd 2 the music stops. I would need to restart teh program and also dis/reconnect my usb. Will try again when i get home this evening.
The SSL virtual decks react to cd players even if sound stops. The virtual decks always respond.

what is your usb buffer set @? it sounds like it is too low (too far to the left). try to set it to 20 (extreme right of the slider in the setup window) and see if that fixes the problem.
