Wassup folks. Who on the forum is in Vegas and where/when do you VJ. I already searched the forum and have a rough idea but wanted to confirm. I'm in Vegas this upcoming weekend (Thu Feb 11 - Mon Feb 15th) for the IRB Rugby 7s events. I'm Djing Friday/Sat @ Rum Jungle Mandalay Bay, so i'm open to check anyone out Thursday and Sunday. Check out Andrew B when you are out there. I think he does video on Thursday at V-bar inside the Venetian. He is definitely one of the Top VJs out there.

I am the resident Video DJ at Eye Candy in Mandalay Bay Friday & Saturday nights.

Rum Jungle has actually been a thorn in Eye Candy's side there at the hotel. They are generally bringing in an element of crowd that isn't exactly the most friendly. Pretty ghetto actually. No cover and no dress code. There was an issue last weekend where they charged a cover charge and enforced a dress code and their regulars flooded Eye Candy and a couple of major fights happened which lead to the General Manager being injured and us closing early that night. It was a mess and I forced to "change" my music format... ugh... lots have changed for the better since then.

I hope that their local reputation doesn't effect your booking. I usually play til around 4am so if you are out early you could swing by. It isn't far from where Eye Candy is.

last weekend meaning Friday Night-January 29th to be exact.

I don't think the crowd will be a problem (Its not your average American crowd, most of the crowd is going to be International i.e. from the 16 countries particiting in the in Rugby event). I've Dj'ed events like this before when the IRB 7's was in L.A and San Diego so i know crowd is not the issue. I will definately try and swing thru Eye Candy, probably on Saturday.

On your flyer it even says "Dress to Impress"... they never say who to impress... These hood rats may dress to impress each other.

You’re saying you dj at the Mayan in L.A right? Saturn is one of the resident video Dj's there. I know he's there every Friday spinning videos and Saturday's downstairs spinning audio only.

millz, you're too kind. haha. i can say i'm not much of a video editor cause i'd rather focus on my dj/vj skillz, but that's just me though. some have one or the other and some have both. but i actually suck at djing and video editing. haha.

Watched john Cha play Thursday night while down in vegas, he played some smash vidz and promo only, but of course hes gonna play his stuff as well. Hung out with Phat Al and his boy Todd1 some cool cats.
John Cha good job on the sets, only thing I didnt like was all the video effects expecially the blur and the one that looks like your Televesion is'nt getting adjusted right (make the people drinking thinking they are real drunk).
MP3Jrick-saw you at the conference as well, they should move Atlantic City Expo to Vegas, Vegas is definately better than Atl City.

AC has more foot traffic though, both are needed to reach the masses.
Having a west coast and east coast show serves more dj's imo.
Vendor presence was down some as was foot traffic.
To have a good show takes both, it's kind of a catch 22.
Vendors won't come if dj's don't come and dj's won't come if vendors don't come.
Saw B52 and ADJ load out MOST of what they brought in.

I think the focus needs to switch towards club and video dj's a bit.
A high level mixing seminar or a video editing seminar like aswift does would be great and attract more dj's.

Going bigger in AC this year.
I would love to see a dj party that knew how to set up sound someday...

That new Rane 68 mixer is pretty wild stuff, got talking with Mike in their booth, and good quality costs bucks no doubt. We talked about the quality of support as well, and that is a huge factor to consider.
Ripping out all of those 800's is going to be quite an undertaking.

Anyway, back to the regularly scheduled thread topic.

Phat -Al, i stopped by Eye Candy for minute on Saturday Nite. Dope dope spot dude. I was there for maybe 15 minutes max. I could not make it to the booth it was kinda roped off plus you were busy. Those two projection screens on either side of the lounge are MASSIVE. BTW its called Eye Candy for a reason lol.

Next time i come out will be when i'm not Djing so i can at least get to chill and relax.

i went to mayan in L.A. on friday, and one of the 2 MBP said dj pepper, (not sure if that was the dj) but he killed it on friday!!! plus the club is a monster IMO, i like the 2 circle screens on the side, the dj downstairs was ok,but the one in the spanish room was a totally piece of shit!! lol i never use this expression but OMG!! lol one song of a different genre,switching from 90 bpm's to 125 bpms like fuck it!! lol, and not one beat matched!!! wow, he must be real good friends with the owner or something!!

wow dats crazy. i never been to the mayan in l.a but i seen pictures and it looks kool. i dj every friday and saturday and the mayan club las vegas. i hate when that happens when the club is very nice and to have a really suckie. dj. o well dats life some times. the suckies djs have the best clubs. and the good djs, allways end up spinning in the bars or private parties.. i i agree with you JBNYC
