I don't think you can really say one or the other is better, since they serve different market segments.
If you are playing clubs that already have a mixer (that is not the TTM or Sixty-Eight [once it ships]), then the SL3 is probably the better choice. It is FAR more portable than lugging your own mixer around. Not to mention most clubs won't take kindly to you trying to swap out their mixer, so you're going to have to daisy-chain through their mixer, anyway.
If you are a mobile (or bedroom) DJ, then the TTM might be the better choice. It has SSL controls integrated, so you can do things like hit cues and loops right from the mixer panel, rather than having to mess with your laptop directly. Additionally, "The Bridge" will be able to record all your fader movements. And for a mobile DJ, you have to bring your own gear anyway, so the portability aspect of the SL boxes is moot.
The SL3 also gives you an additional channel to play with, so if you need/want three decks (when Scratch Live 2 becomes available), then you will not be able to use the TTM.

exactly. it depends on how/where you dj.
it is almost a good idea to buy them both. get it used off of craigslist.
the rumor I heard and am wanting to spread is that most clubs have 57s already.
I wonder how you transition though. you gotta disconnect from the mixer. unless they run two set ups or you have to bring a record or CD to play while setting up when you have multiple djs
