Xone DX Cases

DJ Xio 11:52 PM 22 January 2010
I know, I know... It's too soon...

But can't help to think, if there are any cases already in the market that would fit the Xone DX or if there are any ongoing plans for third part custom cases!

Thanks
Cid K 12:12 AM 23 January 2010
it might fit in a Slappa Balistic Matrix Bag... From what i can tell of the specs it would fit tight but it would fit.
casket hands 12:24 AM 23 January 2010
try a zebracase. they are like a budget version of a pelican. I have had my VCI living in one since I got it and I'm a happy customer.
IK 7:40 PM 23 January 2010
Mono 365 Pack! It fits perfectly. The bag looks cool and it is really high quality.

www.monocase.com

this picture is with APC40, but Xone DX fits too

which size did you get for the VCI to fit?
casket hands 8:00 PM 23 January 2010
the z17 standard. it was $40 if I remember correctly

My problem with bags, is the rubbing with the faders and knobs...
DJ Xio 8:01 PM 23 January 2010
They need to make a hard case for the DX asap!
casket hands 8:01 PM 23 January 2010
I broke off a pitchfader on my IDJ2 by just keeping it in a bag which is why I will only uses hard cases from now on.
Mike E 8:02 PM 23 January 2010
ahhh thanks btw is the foam already cut? or do we have to cut it? and does the vfx fit in there?
casket hands 8:20 PM 23 January 2010
I doubt the VFX will fit in there. I have mine cut so it leaves like an inch or foam around all sides. it might fit in the "professional" size along with a laptop though. the foam just needs to be punched out. its like the pre cut cube sorta stuff. I cut mine a bit bigger than the cubes allowed though.

That's very similar to what I did casket, but with a deeper case, so I could fit my laptop and cables!
DJ Xio 8:10 PM 16 March 2010
Anything?

Any manufacturers reading this thread?
kaib0rg 11:26 PM 16 March 2010
+1. Just ordered my DX and i'm looking for a flight case similar marathon's found here: www.sixstardj.com

anybody?
DJ Xio 11:55 PM 16 March 2010
The marathon case is exactly 16" wide which is perfect for the DX but it's 2" shorter in depth... and if you were to cut the foam on the end and sides, you would not have enough space to hook up XLR cables... That's exactly what' I'm looking for also!
Hesitant 10:02 AM 17 March 2010
+1. I'm in need of a case urgently. Don't want to be taking this out on the road too much without one.
kraal 6:54 PM 17 March 2010
cases have never been made before units were in the hands of the masses
DJ Xio 9:29 PM 17 March 2010
There are universal cases out there. I know oddyssey does custom cases...
Not sure on price though!
Zuck 9:38 PM 18 March 2010
Pelican and other company make universal cases with the "pluck" foam. The cases are waterproof and basically dynamite proof. They'll run you around $100.
DJ Xio 10:53 PM 18 March 2010
Alright, so I found a case that technically fits the Xone DX and a laptop for travel...

www.casesbymasco.com
DJ Xio 10:56 PM 18 March 2010
actually, this one should work better... considering the smaller depth...

I just purchased the PERFECT bag for Xone DX...It seems like it was custom made for it..!!
The built quality is excellent and it fits inside ALL my stuff...Xone DX,a 15.4 Macbook (17 its ok also),a Sony Vaio 13.3,a laptop stand,an external hard disk,my headphones and cables...

Do you have pictures?

Bags tend to damage the knobs and faders of some controllers!
I1Kirm 11:37 PM 18 March 2010
Great find Giannis. Do you think it can fit a VCI-300 and an APC-40? By the way are you Greek?
djgiannis 11:45 PM 18 March 2010
I am 99% sure that it can fit both VCI-300,APC-40,a 15inch laptop, headphones and cables..
This case is huge!!..And expensive..Costs around 190 euros (i bought it for 150 cause it had a 20% discount).
And yes..I am Greek!

This is not actually a bag, because its made from hard material...It keeps its shape even if its empty..Even if you drop the bag down from one meter, the controller will be safe inside...The inside material is very soft and i dont believe that it can damage the knobs..
DJ Xio 12:01 AM 19 March 2010
Send us a pic when you receive it, I would like to see how tight the DX fits in it.

Thanks
djgiannis 12:04 AM 19 March 2010
It fits more than perfectly.I will send a pic tommorow.
DJ Xio 12:09 AM 19 March 2010
Awesome,

Thanks!
DJ Xio 7:44 AM 19 March 2010
Looking at this axio beatbox dj bag, and it might just be the one... Giannis, to confirm, do you already have it, or are you assuming it will fit perfectly?

If you do, please send some pictures over so that I can order it tomorrow morning ;)

Thanks! :)

Of course i have it!..I wouldnt post if i just "assumed" that it fits..
Please be patient for the pic cause i am very busy today..
But man trust me...The Axio Beatbox..IS the one..
And for me is the perfect bag cause i can put inside ALL my other stuff...
Before i buy it,i also tried the Magma studioGig 25 and the UDG producer bag,and none of these could handle all my stuff.
AXIO IS THE ONE...
DJ Xio 3:50 PM 19 March 2010
Great... Waiting for the rep to call me back as their website is down.

Giannis, how do you feel about the TT Ground on the back of the Xone DX?

It's so big, I figured it would touch the bag somehow.
djgiannis 6:26 PM 19 March 2010
No problem..There is enough room for this...
But of course i don't know what is going to happen to the bag after 1 year of use..
I think that if you treat your equipment with care, and put everything gently inside the bag,it's gonna last...
DJ Xio 7:11 PM 19 March 2010
Giannis, where did you order yours from?

I can't get a hold of Axio USA
djgiannis 8:42 PM 19 March 2010
There is a local store here in Athens,Greece that sells accessories for bikes..
They have a site but the e-shop is under constraction..
www.colori.net
The funny thing is that i googled it and i cant find any other seller on the net..!!
And its an American product!!..
So,Xio...If you can't find it in USA,maybe it sounds extreme, but i can buy one for you and send it to USA..The price they have on the site is 189 euro, but i can buy it with discount, for 154 euro..Of course i know that it becomes extremely expensive (adding the shipping cost)...But its your decision..And i am available,if you want..
Cheers..
DJ Xio 10:35 PM 19 March 2010
Thanks buddy,

Apparently there won't be any stock for the next three months...
The product has had disappointing sales and they won't make any more until 3 months from now. Whatever is left in dealers is all they got. Apparently, no one has any in the US.

Let me see what other options I might have, I'll send you a msg if anything.

Thanks!
DJ Xio 5:21 AM 20 March 2010
No luck... I'm about to give up :(

The DX fitst right in de Slappa Balistic Matrix bag. It is a tight fit but you don't need to force it. I think I will put a foam strip on the bottom for extra protection.

If someone see this bag, will understand immediately, why AXIO hasn't sold a lot of them..
The bag is huge...You cant take it inside the plane, like UDG producer,Slappa balistic,Mono 365 ,Magma studioGig25 and some other similar bags that sold around the world...Till Xone DX comes out,all other controllers (except NS7) could fit in these bags...
Of course,it also depends on "what" do you want to put inside the bag...If you want just the controller,a laptop, headphones and few cables, these bags are OK...But i wanted to find a bag,not only to fit DX,but ALL my stuff...
I have now inside AXIO,my Xone DX,two laptops (in case one of them fails),the A/C chargers, laptop stand "magma 2.1",4 XLR cables,2 RCA to jack,2 external hard drives and my headphones..
AXIO is also heavy and hard, thats why it has a built-in trolley. There is no way to use it as a backpack..Mine,fully loaded,is now 19 kilos..You cant put 19 kilos in your back!!

That's strange Cid K.
My Slappa bag have two identical compartiments. I cut up a piece of foam and put it on the bottom. Yesterday I went on a gig and al my stuff; DX, Macbook, headphones and cables fitted in de Slappa Balistic.
Cid K 3:33 PM 21 March 2010
Ill take a pic and show you how mine is in the interior.

Mine does have 2 compartement, just one is a wee bit smaller and has a velcro strap to hold the laptop tight,
DJ Xio 4:25 PM 21 March 2010
I'm afraid of cases damaging the knobs and sliders.

I think I'm buying a Pelican 1560 Case with Foam.

Should fit everything... Possibly event headphones!

Wow, I didn't realize that it was the manufacturer's themselves who said no go on making the back.

I use the Pelican 1495 case for my vci-300. It's a bit heavy for a plastic case clocking in at 16lbs with the VCi in it. With it's four latches and air tight locking it definitely gets the job done.
Zuck 4:39 PM 21 March 2010
I wonder if they'll come out with a plastic cover for the knobs like they did for the VCi-300?

Cant wait to receive mine to see how will fit.
DJ Xio 6:09 PM 21 March 2010
Decksavers needs to take notes... I'm probably ordering the pelican tonight... Official cases for the Xone DX probably won't come out till the 2nd half of the year, considering it's not even out in the US until June.
Cid K 6:13 PM 21 March 2010
Check your pm buddy :-D

DJ Xio 7:38 PM 21 March 2010
Done... Ordered the following:

Pelican 1560 with Cubed Foam
www.adorama.com

According to specs,
Should fit:
Xone DX
Macbook Pro 17"
Headphones
Microphone Case
Microphone Cables
Laptop Cables

Will provide pictures as soon as I receive it...
Considering it's a Pelican case, no need to ask about quality....
Also has handle and wheels so the approx 40 lbs it will pack with everything inside should roll smoothly!
DJ Xio 7:39 PM 21 March 2010
Oh and I almost forgot:

Stanton Uberstand
kaib0rg 11:34 PM 24 March 2010
that thing looks about 4x thicker than it needs to be to fit the DX. are you trying to cram the dx, laptop, headphones...etc all in one case?

my issue is that when i go to gigs, i get hit with the same setup everytime:

2x 1210s
2x CDJ's
1x mixer in the middle

and no room for anything else! of course the deck covers for the turntables are never around, so where is a guy to setup? I'd like to have all of my equipment pre-setup in a case (see: marathon case) and then be able to flip it open, plug my power and RCA jacks into the mixer and be good to go. It seems like that pelican case is more a "storage and travel" case than something that can double as a live gig playing case/coffin.
DJ Xio 12:55 AM 25 March 2010
Yeah, I'm planning on putting my laptop / mixer / headphone and even microphone all in one case.... Helps when you're mobile djing a lot!
DJ Xio 1:02 AM 25 March 2010
btw, Adorama sucks it was backorderd and I ended up cancelling my order with them... Ended up ordering on ebay!
DJ Xio 9:09 PM 26 March 2010
My pelican and my replacement Xone DX arrived today.
After some cutting, almost finger chopping :s

here's what I came up with (an all in one solution):

www.flickr.com
Cid K 3:53 AM 31 March 2010
Received my Xone DX today and am quite impress by the over feel and quality. Wasnt expecting that much :-D

As for my Matrix Balistix DJ Bag, am happy to report that it fit perfectly in it, with laptop, launchpad, headphones cables and what not!

Will be odering the Decksaver Top shelf case for added protection.
Hesitant 9:09 AM 31 March 2010
Everyone is talking about case to transport their dx in which is good. But I need a flightcase which will hold the dx while I'm out at gigs similar to this:

www.decks.co.uk.

I do a lot of mobile gigs and therefore a flightcase is better suited to my needs. Need one soon though.
kaib0rg 8:39 PM 31 March 2010
I'm totally with you Hesitant. I'm also in the market for a flight case similar to the one you linked. Alas, it looks like the flight case market is behind the equipment market, as usual.

So true. I've contacted a company with the same spec as the one in the link I posted to see if they will make it and how much. They've still not got back to me though.
Shonkyboy 1:54 PM 4 April 2010
i got a Gigskinz Large Mixer bag for mine to tide me over while a custom flight case is made - it hold the DX, 15" Laptop, Headphones all leads, hard drive, Magma Laptop Stand and a Roland Sp555 - had to do a very slight modification to the velcro inside - which the missus did - but its a perfect fit now and very sturdy - as bags go - as the DX its in flat and is not slid in there is not as much chance of damage to the buttons - the velcro straps lock the dx in place so it doesnt slip around and i must say im quite impressed by this bag :)
Shonkyboy 1:55 PM 4 April 2010
sorry typo - " as the DX Sits in flat"
scottishpaul 3:03 PM 4 April 2010
Shonkyboy, keeping mine in that same bag with same mod from the missus...I too am very impressed with this bag - does the trick nicely :-)
Shonkyboy 3:11 PM 4 April 2010
yeah - after reading though the wole of this thread - i would say that the Gigskinz is 'the bag' for the DX and its not that pricey either. I put the Sp555 on top of the dx wrapped in a very small carp unhooking mat (for fishing) - adds a nice bit of padding :)
Shonkyboy 3:11 PM 4 April 2010
obvoiusly the carp unhooking mat is unused and not wet :)
Shonkyboy 3:13 PM 4 April 2010
"though the wole" i mean - whole - my typos seem to be getting worse...... maybe i should have a read though before pressing post :-)
DJChad72 11:04 PM 4 April 2010
I am defiantly looking for a flight case similar to the Marathon case for the VCI300. I am still trying to decide between the VCI 300 and Xone DX (dont want to side track this thread with a DX vs 300 debate, ill find another thread for that.)

A flight ready case for the Xone DX is a good factor for me as I see plenty of opions like this for the VCI300.

@DJ Xio

I was concerned to read your posting, and firstly would like to apologize that you were inconvenienced when you attempted to place an order with Adorama Camera..

Unfortunately, items can be on back order when a manufacturer has let us down by not shipping goods to us as promised - which in turn means that we let our customers down.
If you could spare the time to email me directly with your order number, I can look into this matter immediately.

Once again my sincere apologies, and I do lok forward to hearing from you.

Hi Helen, well to start off when I placed the order it showed it was in stock.
Three days later after not receiving a tracking number I decided to call and a rude customer serviced rep told me they were out of stock. However he said they had ordered mine from the manufacturer and would be getting it that day. So I patiently waited until the next day. When I called to see why it had not shipped. They simply said it was out of stock and one should come in tomorrow. At that point i cancelled and ordered on eBay. They shipped it that same day and I received it the following morning. All in all, I'm not planning on ordering from Adorama any time soon.
DJChad72 5:41 PM 11 April 2010
DJ XIO, can you perhaps post a step by step how to on the Pelican case how you fashioned it? It sounds like the foam you are able to layer it on top of the other and get the Xone DX, Laptop, and Headphones all in the 1 case. I can sort of see from the pics, but would be good to know how you got to that final version as I am not sure in what state you started from. :)

Rudeness from our staff is completely unacceptable; if you can email me (helen.oster@adoramacamera.com), with the original order number, and the date (and if possible, approximate time) of your call, we can pull the tape of the conversation and address this with the rep concerned.

DJChad72 5:22 AM 1 May 2010
I know this thread is dead probably by this time; however has anyone noticed or figured out and tried the Numark iDJ2 cases to see if they fit the Xone DX??!?! If you compare the dimensions from the manuals, the iDJ2 just 2mm wider, and 4mm deeper. Therefore I would think the cases for the iDJ2 would fit the Xone DX fairly well. I would think you could line it with a thin layer of foam to cover the 2 and 4mm gap??? The best part is the entire front of the cases are open because there are controls on the left and right sides. So the Xone DX front/center area for the headphones and Mic should be accessible too. Some come with a fold down shelf for a keyboard... so that could be used to set/hang your headphones, etc...

The question is if there is enough room in the cable bays for XLR and USB connectors? I would think so for the USB because the iDJ2 USB is in back too! I would like to hear if anyone has tried using the iDJ Case or if their local shops have one for you to try it??? I think mine are out of stock, but I will be checking tomorrow!

Xone DX Dimensions:
W=400 mm(15.8”) H=50 mm(2.0”) D=325 mm(12.8”)

iDJ2 Dimensions:
W=402mm, H=77mm, D=329mm

Thoughts? Anyone been able to try it?
Hesitant 1:18 PM 1 May 2010
Looks like the nearest hard case available at the moment. But my only concern would be the gap at the back for XLR cables. Suppose the unit could be slightly raised at the back when using it.

There is a shop near me that has one in stock will ask if I can take my DX in and try it out.
maxj 1:23 PM 1 May 2010
hi guys,

I bought monocase EFX 365 DJ's and 'have been
difficult buy it 'cause I live in Italy, after much research I managed to
find the product in a shop in England.

and 'a good bag, insert: 1 MacBook Pro 15.4, 1 Xone DX (there is
perfectly, 1 pair of headphones, cable connection.
I put in the side pockets of the power mac and more Xone right 'number
things.

the council and 'very comfortable and durable.

peace.

Ya a bag and pelican case is better than nothing. But looking for a solution that protects, transports, and perform from....

Hesitant eager to hear.... ill be calling soon here too see if my local guitar center can accomodate
cnewton 4:36 PM 1 May 2010
im gonna hold out to see if sumone brings one out in the future... for now iv gone for the cheaper option short term which is this

www.pcworld.co.uk

dx in the front, laptop in the back, and cables in a seperate bag.

had the cables in the same bag but was worried as this case hasnt got much padding so didnt want too much pressure on the dx...

as i said its not for long term, but its summin to transport it in.. as long as you treat it well.

definitely want a fitted flightcase tho!
DJChad72 7:09 PM 1 May 2010
The more I look at it... i think what the iDJ2 calls D is actually W for the Xone DX and vice versa. My bet is the Xone DX would fix sideways, but no room for connections.

It would work for transport, but you would not be able to pop open and perform. You could always use it to set your XONE DX on top of to help abosrb shock and such. :)

I found my local retailers do not have them. So no where to go and try it. If anyone has any luck trying it before you have to buy/ship it... please let me know! :)
DJChad72 7:22 PM 1 May 2010
well, maybe not. I guess I am looking at too many damn pictures that distort the perception of the iDJ2. I think the iDJ2 and Xone DX are the same shape. Just had to get a non "glamour" shot to make sure.
CAW 12:16 AM 4 May 2010
I wonder how many units have to sell before someone like Odyssey or Road Ready will make a custom flight case for a product. I'd guess Odyssey will be the first to do one. They're the only ones with a custom APC40 case, for example.
DJChad72 12:36 AM 4 May 2010
I found a used but like new Oddessy FZIDJ2 on amazone for $100. It should come this week, so hopefully ill have news to report back on how it fits.
yeahdef 12:38 AM 4 May 2010
Please do Chad!
DJChad72 1:11 AM 6 May 2010
THE MOMENT YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR... IT FITS!!!!!! After a SLIGHT modification or two. :)

Here is the skibby folks. The width (what I would consider from left to right looking at the Xone DX as you play) is the same as the Numark IDJ2. The Odussey FXIDJ2 has 3 or 4 slim side pads to allow you to determine how much breathing room you need. SO you can create a very snug fit on the width.

The depth (what I would call the distance from the front to the back) is off by about about 1/2 inch. However that is just to the corner foam fitting in the back. Plenty of room for cable connections. The good news is this is easily remedied with a knife/sheers. I cut about 1/4 inch off one corner and 1/2 inch off the opposite. and BOOM! it fits like a glove!

The lid fits great and is foam as well, and the cut out line fits to the Xone DX top profile perfectly.

I plugged in an XLR cable and it is tight. You do have to lift the Xone DX in order to plug it in, but it will sit back down into the case just fine. I have some elbow XLR cables somewhere I am going to try... but they are not necessarily required unless you wanted to super glue or velcro your unit down to the bottom.

The best thing about this case style vs other is the front part of the case is 100% exposed due to the slide out keyboard tray. As you can see in the pics below, you can put headphones (flat) and slide them away for storage. Sure you can stow your power and USB cables there too if you didnt want them up with the Xone DX in the cable area.

I am posting some pics! Let me know if you have questions of comments.

nice but still looks awkward.

I just can't understand why a company would release an expensive product without an accompanying case. that alone would not get my business. Numark had it right but they need to trim down the weights on their case though....
DJChad72 1:41 AM 6 May 2010
its not a perfect world either... lol it works and considering I got it for $100 used, ill take it.

However to your point, it is obvious that if they just did some of the molding modifications to the existing FXIDJ2, the outer shell is fine as is.
CAW 1:49 AM 6 May 2010
Well, outer shell could stand to be a bit deeper. Or have a pop-out cutout for the cables in the back. Bending that XLR cable like you have in that one photo makes the baby Jesus cry.
DJChad72 2:16 AM 6 May 2010
lol

the Odyssey symbol in back can come off and there are two holes to feed cables. but does not resolve the "bending" if I can find my elbow XLR ill try em and report back. I have just a pair of 3 foot cables... you could always have those connected and then just connect your longer cables to the end. It should not create issues in sound. I have done it a few times when i had a multi section rack.

Ill keep looking.

anyone know if it will fit in this case:

just got mine in - played with it for 2 seconds and yes it needs a hard case. probably going to go with chad's solution or a custom-made case from my local place. I hardly ever use XLR - please post a link to where someone may buy the 'elbow xlr' cables - haven't seen them anywhere.

I'm not too concerned with a keyboard tray - so I went ahead and ordered this:
www.marathonpro.com
found a bargain on it - and it seems like it will accommodate the xone.

looking strictly for 'no-frills' protection from weather / car trunks, i think it will do the job.

I'll hit back this thread with pics when I receive it.
DJChad72 2:31 AM 16 May 2010
hey, i love the planet wave swivel cables. however says it is microphone xlr... is that interchangable with loud system output from master out to speaker/amp? I have been told before that you cant use XLR microphone for such, but some are wired for both I have seen.

Also, found them nearly half price off at Amazon.com...
DJChad72 10:04 PM 20 May 2010
FYI, I just ordered 2 of the 25' versions from Amazon for $25 each! That is like $10-$20 cheaper (per cable) than I have seen elsewhere! 3-5 days shipping was $3+, so got 2 cables for under $60!

Loving the setup!
Socross 2:42 AM 25 May 2010
I got this case a couple of weeks ago:

It did the trick, but it's pretty heavy and comes with a backlit usb keyboard that I don't need. So I ordered this:

www.marathonpro.com

Got it in today. After putting in one of the foam strips from the other case, it fits really snugly. It's also nice and light. You will want that extra strip, since without it the DX may slip a little while its in the case. Probably OK, but who knows. Here are some pics:

Forgot to link the first case:

DJChad72 2:52 AM 25 May 2010
ya thought about going with that one too... just to get the slimmer style... but i do like on the bigger one if I put my headphone cuffs flat, i can slide them away for storage in the drawer.

But it looks like you were able to fit in the smaller one without making any changes to the foam in back, like I had to on mine. :)

thanks for sharing!
Socross 4:23 AM 25 May 2010
Yeah, I didn't have to cut the foam like I did with the first one. It's strange, since both were made for the same equipment.

Does anyone know if the Decksaver for the Xone 4D works for the DX?
DJ Xio 1:34 AM 26 May 2010
Dimension wise it shouldn't
DJChad72 1:45 AM 26 May 2010
i think what i read somewhere was it didnt work for the Xone DX. The 4D is a much thicker unit 4" vs the DX 2". So even if you could cut or pack the foam packed sides to match, the DX would be swimming in the thing ... your hands would be banging into the walls along the side (ie hot cue buttons, transport buttons, etc...)

Really? The measurements looks like that the DGSERATO is a little bit too small for DX.

XONE:DX: 15,8" X 14,2"

Ian Williams 3:22 PM 14 September 2010
Several people have commented that cases for Numark's IDJ2 will fit the xone:DX. So with that in mind I went searching on ebay.

If you're in the UK or europe, this might do the job nicely at a very good price!

cgi.ebay.co.uk

It's a shame the cut outs in the front panel don't line up with the mic EQ knobs, but based on the dimensions on Roadready's own website, there should be enough front to back depth to fit it in ok.

www.roadreadycases.com

The whole case is going to be quite a large lump with those extra storage areas to the left & right, but at that price, I couldn't resist. ...i've just pressed the "buy now" button! :-)
DJChad72 4:52 PM 14 September 2010
I use the idj2 marathon vase with pullout drawn and I just had ro cut a corner out of the foam. XLR cables with a long neck are tight but custom xlr cables seem to work well as well as the planet waves elbow models. I posted pics above of my setup.

There are other smaller thinner options too that are just over the $100 range, but the drawer gives me a place to stow away head phones and cables.

hey mobildj.no,

I cant see any of the cables in the back or anything underneath. I believe I have seen this case and it is pretty compact compared to the Marathon case I picked up a while back.

I like the Marathon Case for local gigs because I can stuff headphones underneath in the keyboard tray. HOwever I think if I was to track via plane, I would want the Reloop case because it is a little narrower and could fit in overhead or underneath seats.

DJChad72 11:49 PM 12 October 2010
The marathon iDJ2 cases work for the the Xone DX. A standard XLR barrell is very tight, however a thin cabled XLR or Planet Waves elbow has plenty of room.

I would like to see the two above with the cable area measurements or pictures to see how it fits or sits.

AWESOME! I was just thinking hoping for something a little bit better than the make shift iDJ2 Oddyssey Case I have with the keyboard slider underneath. It is pretty bulky. I dont need the keyboard slider, although it is nice to store headphones. But would almost rather have a slim case and carry cables in laptop bag.

Would love to see pictures to see if it has a bit of a slant to the controller, like with the VCI300 cases, as well as any idea on a price point?

When I bought it, I had the option to get it without the slider for the laptop and that would have been like $299. I paid in the range of $340 as u see it in my pictures.
Again, it was custom made and if they mass produce it the price should go down.

Thanks DJ Nice and Zuck, ill give that a try.

HOWEVER, I am now needing to call Hollywood DJ because the problem DJ Xio described is still resident with the unit I received. The front trap door will not go into place with the unit INSIDE the case. It does look like if I rip the foam off, it will fit. I will just have to find out of that is acceptable if it doesnt work and i return it.

These links are the same - I like your case in your other pics. At the moment I have it the VCI-300 case from Odyssey with some slight mod's.

I just got my Xone:DX and I will say right off the batt, the sound quality in the headphones alone is soooo much better than the S4. I will test the rest tomorrow when I hook it up to the PA.
DJChad72 2:37 AM 19 November 2010
I talked to Hollywood DJ and they called Odyssey. Odyssey was to give me a call "soon after" our call; however it appears they went home for the day. They said there is a problem with the foam placing and they could tell me what to remove.

All I could imagine was to remove some of the foam in the back to allow it to go back further...which sucks because I think it will take away from the much needed XLR cable room compared to the iDJ case I had. Then I guess I could put those trimmings to the front of the case to keep it from moving around.

What I have noticed is that when the case is closed with the unit inside (and leaving the front piece out) the DX can move freely and clang around. Maybe that is what the little removable pads are for? Put them under the laptop slider to keep it in place?

In either case (no pun intended) I am NOT finding this worth $200 and the 7 or 8 month wait! The call tomorrow better be VERY prompt and helpful tomorrow or it is going back!

Will the slider close for the laptop?the xone dx case is extremely nice but the fact I can't put the front panel in to completely close up the case from dings and bangs. If the sales rep would give me a call and help me understand how this could be fixed, id be happier.

I have never been a fan of the laptop sliders, but after using last night, I was very happy with it. I felt a little less spread out and a little more cohesive and it puts the laptop screen more at eye level.

okay, update on the Xone DX case. Oddyssey called me today and gave me a few options:

1) they would send a shipping label via email or schedule for pickup, repair it, and send it back.
2) They would send a shipping label via email or schedule for pickup, ill email the tracking back, once they confirm it is in transit back, they will ship a replacement.

I picked #2 because it is all done via UPS Ground. UPS Ground between Kansas City and CA can take 5 days. So that is 2 weeks worth of transit time. They told me it would only be 1 day turn around to replace the foam. What peeves me more than anything is I actually ASKED before I purchased and Oddyssey told Hollywood DJ the stock they got DIDNT have the defect. So I waited 6 days, paid $25 in shipping and $199.99 for this DEFECT case... and now have to wait another 6 or more days (because of the upcoming holiday) before I get a case that fits. Luckily I am gigless through the holiday. However I HATE lingering issues like this. Especially since I really do love the new case. The iDJ2 case worked just fine, but I really love the sliding laptop case... and like I said before... not been a fan of them.

Anyway. I will let you all know when it is resolved and if the supposed replacement cases are any better than the "first batch." However WARNING TO ALL if you order from any online retailers tell them they need to take a DEMO XONEDX out of the box and test it... otherwise you all are going to be waisting time and money.
DJ MDX 8:35 PM 19 November 2010

Will the slider close for the laptop?...

Here is what you have to do if you want it to fit, travel, and perform. You have to cut a small portion on each side in the back to allow it to lay down flush so the slider will slide closed. Now don't throw those pieces away - you'll need them.

Now when performing, put those pieces back into place where you cut them from to angle the DX at almost 30* due to the XLR's being so tight in the back this elevates it and lets the XLR's flow just fine as well as everything else.

The slider slides enough to snug fit against the back top of the DX with plenty of support for the laptop with no shaking, wiggling, or concern for its safety.

Hope that helps - I just figured I have the case already so might as well Mod it if it works - it also allows access to the keyboard sliding tray as well as my HD under the DX while performing.

So is Odyssey fixing the problem for the next batch?
DJChad72 6:50 AM 20 November 2010
I have been told that they have a fix and the units going forward should be fixed with the new foam cut out that sets the unit back about ~1/2 inch. Hollywood DJ said they got a new shipment Friday to swap out their prior inventory. New inventory is good. Prior inventory is going directly from HDJ to Oddyssey for repair/foam swapping.

I would call first and double check if their inventory is free of issue and if they have bothered to verify and check. I would also tell the dealer if they don't verify, you are going to demand a refund and they pay shipping back. You will order elsewhere. I believe Hollywood DJ when they say they called Oddyssey and Oddyssey believed the lot they got in was 'fixed.' However if I had to do it all over again, I would have refused to order until they verified a xone dx would fit and close. Because if it isn't, you won't trust them to do further business. In this day and age of 50 different online, no tax, free shipping you easily go elsewhere. Finding a place that is trust worthy or premium service is hard! ;)

I had mine fixed by my dealer today. They cut out half inch from the back and put it in the front :p
DJChad72 8:12 AM 20 November 2010
Does that leave plent of room for xlr cables? It looked like they would still be comfortable connected to the dx, but didn't actually measure to be sure. With the idj2. Case, the front knobs were tight fit (had to make sure the carpet didn't snag) and the xlr cables barelt fit but not what I would call an advisable fit so I got planet wave xlr with the pivot joints. ;)

I am anxious to get this case of the cases behind me!

I don't know whether the Magma DIGI Control-Trolley has already been mentioned here or not, but it looks like a nice solution to me. www.magma-bags.de

You can get a DJ-Controller Workstation for the DX from Magma as well. www.magma-bags.de

I got my replacement on Monday. It has a block of foam cut out from the back and placed in the front. For anyone who gets a defective unit and feels handy... i would not waste the 2 weeks of shipping and just ask how big the cut out sections should be and do it themselves. But that is me. If it was a brand new foam interior it might have been worth the trade time in shipping.

I do have a quesiton for anyone who has this model, the two foam pieces in the bottom of the unit when you first unpack it... so you velcro those to the underside of the laptop slider to keep the DX in place when you pack it up? That is what I assume, but there are not instructions. At first I could see where I could put my laptop, headphones and cables under there very easily... and not worry about the laptop getting slammed around. But feel it is probably best just for headphones and cables. Keep the laptop in the bag where I can keep an eye on it. : )

I like the idea but what I don't like is how messy it looks once hooked up. Maybe you could include some paths to hide wiring if not it really looks as bad (or good) as it does just laying flat on a table.

Don't get me wrong I like your idea but for mobile gigs, as presented, it does not give the professional clean look due to all the wiring being so exposed all over the place. It needs something like a table needs a skirt to hide all the wiring.

Ok so I got the Odyssey case and a Decksaver for Christmas. I even put my HD under it with plenty of breathing room. - See pic below.

why a decksaver if you have a flight case?

also the odyssey case seems the best, but is there an option without the laptop shelf...i hated the one on my ns7 case...it takes up too much depth
DJChad72 5:19 AM 28 December 2010
you can remove the laptop sliding shelf. It does not seems to take up as much room behind as I thought it would. I am actually using it and didnt think I would.

I assume he is using the decksaver because unless you get the foam stoppers inserted under neath the laptop sliding shelf just right, the DX flops about.

I have a Mono 365 Bag that I'll use with the Descksaver for my Club & Bar gigs that have a DJ booth - it makes things really easy just carrying in the backpack.

For the Mobile Events I do where I am exposed (on a table) I'll use the flight case for a more professional clean look. And as DJChad explained the Decksaver can work in conjunction with the flight case.

Other reasons are I can keep it open at home for practice and when not in use put the Decksaver on and keep dust or the elements from getting in the DX and when at events I can set up and not worry about curious little fingers messing with something since its covered and believe me, the combination looks really sexy!

Oh and I agree, at the time, for a flight case, Odyssey fits perfect. I have no gripes so far at all. This is my 3rd Odyssey case, 1 for VCI-300 with laptop & keyboard tray, 1 coffin with laptop slider for 1200's in battle mode and TTM57, & this one of course.

DJChad72 10:37 PM 24 January 2011
Ebay is an option at times when retailers are out of stock. Those retailers sell in bulk sometimes and the supply ends up on ebay. Just make sure you check the ratings of yhe ebay store you buy from. Something like a case or decksaver should not be a problem with warranty or such.

I know this is kind of an old thread but after purchasing my Xone DX about three weeks ago, I went on the hunt for a flight case. Being in Hawaii, 1) naturally NO ONE stocks any. 2) I was gonna take it up the tail pipe in shipping anyway. So after looking long and hard here's what I've found out. I've had a monocase 365 for two years. The DX fits but I wouldn't carry it without a deck saver. Odyssey is back ordered until late May per PSSL. By the way, don't order from CALSOUNDS they dont show it as being out of stock even though it is, and I'm about to file a claim with my bank as they havent refunded me. So buyer beware. Marathon makes a flight case but none of the dealers I contacted to see if it was in stock ever replied, guess they're not interested in making money. I FINALLY located a store that carries the MAGMA flight case in ENGLAND. After my calculations it was cheaper to order the magma case from England anyway. The shop is called mirage records and the link is here
www.mirage2000records.co.uk I'm happy to say it arrived today and it fit the DX perfectly. Couple of things thought. While it has plenty of room to plug in the cables and the front closes fine unlike the first batch from odyssey, there is no room underneath for hard drives etc. And I see no straps to transport your laptop as it states. Although, I'd never carry pap lappy in there anyway. The laptop stand is big and stable though.

Hey team,

After reading the above i think i'm going with the Numark's IDJ2 to fit the Xone DX controller. So let me get this right.... All i have to do is cut a small part out of one of the conners and it should fit right?

WARNING - I brought the "Roady ready hard case" Model RRLUC - This almosts fits, however, the front mic knobs stop it for sitting in correctly.

Cheers for the help people!
DJChad72 12:26 PM 20 April 2011
Correct. Mine was the Odyssey iDJ case. I just had to remove about the 1" off to corner.

Ok, I have finally gotten my case from Odyssey model # fzgsxonedx for my xone dx. I absolutely love it. I had first ordered from a website called recordcase.com and they were from germany. But I had to cancel my order cause they won't deliver my order to an alternate shipping address. So I called a place where go personally to shop for little dj stuff. And they ordered a case for me, the odyssey case. When I got it, I was stunned of the look and space in it. It was awesome. Although I couldn't use the xlr cable for the master out of the xone dx while the xone dx sits in the case. It would be ok to use the cable if I took the xone dx out of the case but in the case I do not want to take the xone dx out of the case. So I have to use rca cable (audio red and white cables). I do however have a question for anyone using rca to rca cable to connect to the master out rca socket on the rear of the xone dx. It doesn't say which one is left or which one is right. Can someone please tell me which is left and which is right?
I am reading the manual but it only shows a picture of the rear of the xone dx and details what each socket is for. Only the xlr sockets show left and right but all other sockets doesn't say left or right.

Cheers!!

I know some of you are too busy to answer my last post. But I also want to add that my odyssey case came with 2 little pieces of foam that has velcro on them. These 2 pieces of foam are sitting beneath the xone dx inside the case. I want to know what are these 2 pieces of foam used for. It has to be used for something. Cause the xone dx doesn't touch it even when inside the case. Ok well let know. Thanks in advance

cheers,
ivan

On the RCA L/R, I have not really thought about it as I tend to use XLR. However given you do not have a "panning" function with in ITCH and the Xone DX, it really dont matter as far a I can tell? Maybe I am just missing out on something. :)

On the 2 pieces they are multi purpose. You can use then below to store your laptop and keep it supported. Obviously it will depend on the size of your laptop to know if it really is a secure place. Option 2 is to place them under the laptop slider (velcro side up and rubber side down) to hold the Xone DX in place when boxed up.

Personally, have a decksaver cover that I put on the Xone DX and it keeps it in place under the laptop slider when retracted. I then just keep the two pieces below. I keep a Serato ITCH/Xone DX Manual (printed, binded, and laminated cover) and spare USB and RCA Cables. My headphones would fit too, but generally keep them in my laptop bag. I learned a while back the manual is handy to have with you. For example if you have not tested or used the Microphone function before and cant remember on the fly how to activate it.

I hope that helps some, at least on the 2 piece mystery. I had the same "what the heck is this for?" reaction. But quickly realized the Xone DX does not sit still when you stand the case up on end. So figured that is what the 2 pieces were for. The decksaver is far better as you done have to worry about the 2 pieces depressing something it shouldnt.
Ivan velez 12:55 AM 15 May 2011
DJChad72,

Thanks for your reply. I called serato company about the the rca sockets on the rear and they said that the top is the left and the bottom is the right.

As for the 2 pieces, I will use these to support the xone dx from moving while carry the odyssey case. And yeah that was exactly what my reaction was when I saw these 2 pieces lol. Since I don't drive a car, I have to use a little luggage cart to stroll the case to my gig. So I have the xone dx lasts without any damage from being strolled on wheels all the time.

But I will look into getting that decksaver cover. How much is this decksaver?

So far so good you have been very helpful and thank you again.

By the way, I'm all new on this midi controller technology. It feels totally different than the way I used to dj with vinyl back in the 80's. Then to cd's in 90's and 2k, then with mp3's with laptop & ssl. And now made the move to itch. But I will keep ssl just in case.
DJChad72 7:49 PM 16 May 2011
The decksaver is $60 USD. So very wise and cheap investment.

Yes it is very unique way to setup and perform, but I can't imagine going backwards. LOL

Im looking for a soft case for my Xone DX and also carry my 15" MBP & cables headphones etc. Suggestions?
DJChad72 11:41 PM 24 August 2011
If you generically google "dj gig bag" you will find lots of options. It really then becomes a matter of taste, how many compartments you want, etc... Just open the Xone DX hardware manual and in the back you will see the unit dimensions. Just keep an eye out for compartments that would accommodate the DX.

Just so you know.... the knobs and faders of most controllers/mixers are prone to various damage when using a bag. So that is why you may want to consider the decksaver in addition to the bag/soft case. It will protect those knobs from getting caught on entry/exit. I once lost a knob at a gig, but didnt know it until the next gig. It had not falling back into the bag, but instead flung off. Since you can be in some darkly lit spaces in a club situation, you dont see something is missing.

Hope that helps!

Dimensions from the manual: 15.8"(W) x 2.0"(H) x 12.8"(D) (add 1.5 inches to depth for the rear plugs and knobs on the front, so closer to 14.3"). For us cheap folks I'm thinking one of these with the egg crate foam inserts might work:
