This question needs to be in the FAQ, if it's not already.

From what I gather, by reading other posts and the manual, the sound from your normal cd player comes off the cd, so all the effects, master tempo, key option, etc will work just fine. However, when you use SSL the sound comes from the computer and the cd player just reads a timecode off the serato cd. Hence, the effects on the cd player do not work, because all your cd player is doing is telling the computer where you are in the track (and even that is only with absolute mode).

Now, don't take my word for it because I didn't look any of this up, this is just my understanding at this point.

"Scratch LIVE freaks out when I use the master tempo (key correction) function on my CD player" -> www.scratchlive.net

Reading the FAQs should be mandatory ;)

Yes, and using the Quick Search box should be mandatory too.

I had a thousand questions before I bought my new DJ setup - which CD players to buy, and why. I used the quick search and spent hours upon hours reading what everyone had to say, without asking a single question!

I went with the Technics. They are $500 less than the CDJ-100's, and they felt better than the others (to me) and they are much much better looking than the DNS-3500's. Besides, I saw a few videos online of people scratching and beat juggling with the SL-DZ1200's and I was impressed.

I am putting my CDJ-200's on reserve for now.
