How does Serato pay its employees? LOL

JD 7:27 PM - 16 December, 2009
I was just wondering.. and im not looking for an actual answer but think about... We buy a Serato unit for around $500 bucks. That unit works for us for YEARS. All subsequent updates to the program are free. As djs, we invested around $500 bucks once and that one investment keeps us making money for years since the box lasts so long... But Serato takes that one time payment (which is surely less than the $500 we pay).. and keeps employees working..Im sure the other programs they offer also cover expenses but those programs too are not bringing in weekly residual income.. Im dumbfounded on the business model.
Dj-M.Bezzle 7:30 PM - 16 December, 2009
do you really think it costs 17 dollars for them to produce a vinyl control tone record...how often do those wear out, it dosent take 500+ to producd the SL soundcards and theres no production fees to software....and believe it or not theyve sold their product to more people than the guys on this board ;) lol

JD 10:20 PM - 16 December, 2009
Even if they sold vinyl control records - how many does one user go thru a year? Serato has been around for years now... Of course there are thousands of djs who use Serato but thats not a re-occuring fee they are making... Im not looking for an answer but just made me wonder... whatever theyre doing, good job!
Laz219 10:20 PM - 16 December, 2009

All the Serato employees are really Oompa Loompas. They work for room and board and are happy to do it as they were transplanted from Loompaland were they were getting eating right and left by the Wangdoodles.

So I heard a rumor that the 57 has sold in the 10s of thousands range...just the 57. Any truth to this Serato peeps...Rane peeps?

100CVs, but either way it's rediculous
DJ Art Pumpin Payne 12:42 AM - 17 December, 2009
Actually the Rane 57 costs $50 in parts and only costs $300, the extra $1000 goes to the Serato employees, divided equally each time one is sold.

: )

Don't forget they make a few pennies off of Pitch N time serato.com and Licensing Serato Technology serato.com plus i am sure Rane (hardware company) has them (software division) on payroll as "developers" to keep money future money rolling in.

Whoa whoa wait, I just said 200k forum users, which seems to be wrong BTW. It is something around 167k users, my bad. But this is just an indicator, there could be more SL users who never log in into the forum. There could be less SL users cause not all user accounts work properly *and* not a small number are actually ITCH users.

Unfortunately there are no official numbers about the sold SL units :-(

Serato's Steve W has been mocking us Rane K'nids' natural shape for years with his mocking rocking egg and this finally reveals publicly why we've never sent him white vinyl. So it'll take considerably more than kissing his or our ass to get white vinyl.

Mwoo ha ha ha...

ChrisD, what's today's conversion from cacao to gummy?

wait i gotta kiss rane ass for white vinyl not serato...DAAMMNNN IT all those waisted nights LOL JK

lol you guys are funny...

A lot of companies do a lot more than the obvious. I work for a major newspaper, and while everyone thinks we make our money off our print edition, we actually have a lot more products than just the print paper that makes us money. Products that you would never think makes us money, yet, they offset the costs of running the main paper.
JD 10:57 PM - 17 December, 2009
So Serato may be running a secret side business that funnels money into their digital dj line? hmmmmm.. this is getting interesting...lol

I'm running out of places to squirrel gummibears in my room. There's a sort of gel-like *squidge* and millions of tiny ursine voices crying out in pain whenever I go to bed and the fans in my workstation clogged up from cocoa powder.

I think you Rane guys are getting the gyp from your overlords, I'm living in a diabetic's nightmare over here. :\
