I am looking for two programs... (one for a Mac & One for a PC) that will allow me to make a duplicate copy of my external HD which I use for serato..
I am constantly adding more music, organizing crates, etc... on my main external HD that I use for serato.. I have a 2nd HD as a backup.. and would like to know if anybody can recommend any software, where I can simply plug the two drives in to my comp.. and say.. make the backup, match the main HD... ?
I've searched the apple website, and have found a few... some cost money, others don't.. I have no problem paying for software, just want to make sure what I am getting works thats all..
thanks again in advance for your reply..

I don't know what to tell you for MAC but I have been using Microsoft SyncToy 2.0 (FREE PROGRAM TOO) and it is the best backup software I know of and I checked out a ton of applications.
I suffered from a HD crash back in April and lost about 3 months worth of files. I promised to never go that long without a backup.
With SyncToy 2.0 you can sync up the whole drive since it remembers all of the changes since the last backup and even gives you a summary of how much time it saved over a complete backup.
You can choose to sync one folder or any number of folders and their sub-directories and you can even run the backup from a command line. The app really rocks.
I am using it on 3 of the 1TB Western Digital Drives. My main drive is sitting a 700GB and the SyncToy program has no problem with it.
I hhave been adding about 1500 new files per week and playing about 200 files per week. When I sync, it will overwrite the 200 files I played and add the 1500 new files in less than 10 minutes.

so if I am getting this program correctly... I would basically put my main drive as the "left" drive, and then "Echo" the drive? using their terms?

I use ECHO for everything.
I run 3 drives altogether - 2 of the drives are backup drives...
I run an average of 1500 new files per week.
I have main folders on my drive like "URBAN", "VARIOUS", "DANCEHALL", "HOUSE"...
This is what I do between drive 1 and 2:
I created a Folder Pair for each one of my big folders. Sometimes I choose "Run All" and sometimes I just run one folder. For instance, if I did a show and all I played was Urban all night or all I added was Urban tracks, I would just run that one folder pair. Drive 1 and 2 go to gigs with me. If Drive 1 would fail, Drive 2 would be a mirror image. NEVER ATTACH BOTH DRIVES AT THE SAME TIME DURING A GIG.
Backup from Drive 1 and Drive 3:
This is the archive I keep at Mom's house...lol
I created a Folder Pair for the whole drive.... When I first ran the backup, it took 10 hours to finish. Now, it takes about 15 minutes to finish.

I forgot to mention a very important piece..
I do all of the Overview Builds on Drive 1 and ALWAYS include that Folder Pair in my archive whenever I run any backup. This way, the Serato library has every song on the drive.
Recap
Drive 1 and 2 are my show drives
Drive 3 is my archive in case I lost Drive 1 and 2 due to theft or fire or car accident, etc.
