crossfader question

VJ Justin Allen 2:13 AM - 16 November, 2009
I was at a club last night watching a VJ using the 57 and had a question. He kept the crossfader in the middle and just used the volume sliders. The problem is the the new video just kinda appeared and the old video disappeared, with both of them overlaying each other during the mix.

If you don't want to use the crossfader for audio, can you set it to only control the video side of things...so you can get the smooth video crossfade mix?

NO. The crossfader on the mixer is ALWAYS audio-active. The crossfader in the video software (the one you see on the screen under the middle video window) can function by itself to control video only. To use this function you have to deselect "fader" button next to it.

Seperate audio and video fading can get complicated, because your DJ will have use the faders on the mixer for the audio, while using the the mouse to fade the video. In most cases its just better to leave them LINKED.

That is one serious reason to not use the 57 then. I use the Pioneer 800 and I can have the fader only work for video and disregard the audio portion.

Thanks Chris
