Ok so the club I am working at wants me to plug into a RGB input to do video mixing... Problem is I bought a single cable that goes from DVI to RGB. When I plugged it in at home up to my plasma i got nothing no response from the tv or my mac. Is there something I am doing wrong?
I tested my video card output with a standard dvi-dvi and it works fine.
so Im leading to believe either the cable I bought is bad, or dvi to RGB isn't possible in a straight cable design.
HELP!!

Hi KCONN,
What model of Mac are you using? Most Macs have a DVI-I output, meaning it can send both DVI digital and analog, so they in theory should work with a cable (I'm not 100% sure about this tho). Also what make and model# of cable are you using?

I'm using a late model 2008 MacBook pro (non unibody) and the cable is a generic DVI24+5 / 3RCA (DVI to RGB) cable I got from a store online. a buddy of mine said I would have to buy a converter to get the signal to analog from mac store then a composite or svideo to rgb

Hey KCONN,
Actually you may need a converter, I'm not sure how you can tell the Mac to send an analog signal rather than a digital one - a converter would do this for you :)

what if i bought this
store.apple.com
and then bought this
compeve.com
would that work? cause converters cost more then im willing to spend. unless you know of a dvi to rgb converter for less then $100 lol

It looks like that would work (I think?). It might be a good idea to perhaps ask Apple if that will work for sure, before you spend any money on it :) Perhaps try posting on their forum? Please let me know their reponse.
