I just made an online purchase today. Should be receiving this by Thursday. I know it's no iphone, but I love the specs on this phone. Here is a website to check out some of there feathers. phones.verizonwireless.com .... Right now I have the LG Voyager. Going on a year and a half. Just love having the mobile T.V for ESPN, Comedy Central, and Nick for my son. But I'm sure I'll find some type of App that will accomidate these.

I also picked one up. I don't expect it to be ground-breaking, but it'll def be an improvement over my current phone. They're slated to receive OTA updates as soon as 12/11 phandroid.com Hopefully, they'll keep up that pace to keep these things up to date without having to go into a Verizon store.

So its been a few days with the Eris and so far I like it a lot. This is a kick ass phone. I think a lot of people s. witched from the Moto to the HTC. The moto does have a kick ass processor tho.
There are some things you gotta do to fine tune it so you won't drain the battery in a matter of hours but it seems like other phones in this category have this same problem.

I got to use a DROID for my work for two days and it's an amazing phone, but not without it's quirks/cons.
Pros -
1. awesome screen - text was crystal clear, pictures look amazing, videos (in HD) are a pleasure to look at (no misquote)
2. LOUD speaker - Louder than a lot of laptop speakers
3. Web browsing (fast, renders pages correctly and quickly) - one of the main reasons to get the phone
4. YouTube is well integrated and it streams videos nicely over both wifi and evdo. HD youtube videos are especially eye catching.
5. GPS with googlemaps works just as well as a stand alone GPS unit for your car. Acucrate voice navigation (no delays)
6. Native Facebook app - similiar to iPhones app (I think), easy to use, renders news wall fast. You can create a widget on your homescreen with facebook status updates being streamed to the phone.
7. Customizable home screen - able to create widgets (clocks, calendar, pictures, facebook status updates, weather streaming and shortcuts to folders, favorite webpages etc.
8. Gmail is well integrated, direct push for gmail. Exchange corporate email is SUPPOSE to be direct push but I only got it working using a 3rd party app called touchdown.
9. Seperate contacts and inbox for Exchange via Touchdown; doesn't combine with your personal contacts
10. For the DJs that listen to mixes - You can create a widget to play your tracks from the homescreen. I like the fact that you can jump to any point in a mix (blackberries jump to a predetermined point in the song). This is important to me, since I can hook it up to my car stereo via casette adapter and use it as a decent functioning mp3 player.
11. WiFi was easy to set up. When Droid is on WiFi, web browsing is almost as fast as being on your lappy. However, not all apps work via WiFi
12. As with most Moto phones - calls were crystal clear and reception was great. I only made a few phone calls however, but I was impressed with my call experiences.
13. Android Market - has supposely 10k apps, I was a bit overwhelmed by the number of apps actually. One of the biggest draws to the phone is that it is an open handset and will attract more and more developers to make creative apps.
Cons -
1. Exchange corporate email was not working natively, had to install Touchdown to get it to work. Touchdown app allows you to easily toggle between inbox, contacts, calendars, etc. TD app is $10 I believe.
2. Physical keyboard is my biggest complaint. - seems to be an after thought. Keyboard is too flush and not centered to the phone because of the directional pad on the right side of the keyboard. You have to reach over with your right hand to get to certain keys and does not feel very natural doing so. I found myself using the touchscreen landscape keyboard most of the time; portrait touchscreen keyboard is impossible to type on.
3. Only Gmail (and Exchange email) is direct push. You can set up Yahoo/hotmail email, but it pulls the email at intervals and is not instaneous like gmail. You can upgrade your Yahoo/hotmail to forward email to gmail to make it pushed, but you have to pay $20/year for the mail upgrade. Overall mail is not integrated that well into the phone.
4. Very unintuitive interface - I found myself constantly trying to figure out what to do next and how to get to the options/screen. The OS is very 'clunky' and rough around the edges at some points. Yes, it'll become more 2nd nature as I use the phone more, but the OS is no user friendly iPhone OS
5. Accessing the phone to make calls requires a couple of steps. There should have been a 'phone' hard button to access the phone from any menu/screen you are on.
6. Camera is horrible. 5 MP is just a gimmick to making consumers thinking that the phone takes 'picture' quality photos. It's not just about how many MPs your camera is, but the quality of the lens and the software that snaps the pictures. Hopefully in an OS update, the camera function is improved. As of right now, snapping pics is sluggish, the camera struggles to autofocus, especially if there is movement being detected.
7. Freezing - Not sure if it was user error or what, but sometimes the phone would seem to lock up, I had to do a reboot to get out of some screens. I found a few glitches here and there, nothing too annoying however.
Blackberry is still king of messaging (emails, IMing, txting, etc). Cleaner and more intuitive menus and UI and better physical keyboard. If you are a bigger on messaging, I would stay with BB.
I'm probably going to upgrade to a Droid AFTER I see how everything pans out and see how the next patch/update handles the phones software glitches (Exchange, Camera?, freezing, glitches, reboots). There's nothing that my BB Curve can't do that the Droid can do so I'm in no rush. The Droid just has a fancier way of doing it and looks better doing it.
