Did this happen while using the 1.9.2 version?

Are you using an external HD?

Does your computer have USB 1.1 or 2.0?
undercover007 11:35 PM - 6 November, 2009
Yes I am using 1.9.2 version....I am not using and external and my usb is 2.0
djtrippin 10:51 AM - 7 November, 2009
I am having the EXACT SAME problem. I am also running a brand new macbook pro with 4gbs of RAM, the problem is exactly how undercover007 describes it, the audio will suddenly stop and the wave form will dissapear while the wheel is still turning. It happened to me on 1.9.1, I upgraded to 1.9.2, and it is still happening. I am not running an external HD, and I am on USB 2.0...
djtrippin 10:52 AM - 7 November, 2009
I'll also add that I am not playing corrupt files, my USB buffer was set to 10, audio cache to 60, my scopes were calabrated perfectly, and I am using the TTM-57...

sometimes the error will happen out of no where for no reason, while im not even touching the laptop, and recently, it has been freezing up when loading a song to the opposite deck thats playing, then this issue occurs..

HELP!! shit is a pain in the ass to deal with...
djtrippin 11:57 AM - 7 November, 2009
I am trying a removal and fresh reinstall of the latest software. I also downloaded this supposed hard drive fix, in the instance this might have been my issue..

if anyone has any other insight for me, i am all ears

Any ideas Rane? I have a feeling this is a unique error only a select few of us are experiencing...
j cue 1:30 AM - 8 November, 2009
sounds like a hard drive failure to me.. been there..had that..
djtrippin 12:02 PM - 8 November, 2009
I dont think so.... I have no other issues..... I downloaded 1.8.3 and rocked with that tonight for 6 hours straight... no issues... maybe its a 1.9 issue??? would be nice to know.

dj trippen, you hijacked this thread. Next time, please make a new thread. Your issue was most likely the "performance update" recommended by MAC for people using externals.

The original post isn't using an external HD, although I would still recommend getting that performance update from the Apple site. Different problems.
undercover007 6:59 PM - 9 November, 2009
I also noticed that my wave forms are glitchy.....every 5 seconds it will slow down a bit and will go back to normal speed.....I adjusted the buffer size and same problem happens.....I uploaded several versions of serato 1.8, 1.9.1 and 1.9.2 and the same problem happens.....I DONT use an external hard drive....I have NO corrupt files......Is there a reason why my wave forms are slowing down? Do I have to do the "performance update" My Macbook Pro is brand new and is only a week old....Someone please help!!!

Slow / glitchy waveforms is a known issue for many MAC users.

Does the audio get effected?
djtrippin 8:58 PM - 9 November, 2009
Chad... if you had read a little more closely, you'd have noticed I said I was NOT using an external HD...

all the same, please start a new thread.
undercover007 10:29 PM - 9 November, 2009
No the audio does not get affected but this might be the reason why my serato is crashing.........

Chad S. 10:41 PM - 9 November, 2009
I wouldn't anticipate it as a reason for a crash. The audio isn't effected when this is happening correct?

When was the last version you built overviews in? Was it the 1.8.x versions?

If you hit the Analyze files tab right now, does it say they are all built?
undercover007 11:15 PM - 9 November, 2009
yes all my overviews are bulit......... I was using 1.9.2 when building my overviews.... are you saying that the glitchy waveforms is normal for a mac user and not to wory about it? Why is serato crashing?

Chad S. 11:23 PM - 9 November, 2009
Yes, the two would be unrelated.

Double check the library to make sure you have no icons that look like a cd with a crack or lightning bolt through it.

When it crashes what type of file are you playing?

Do you have many different file types in the library?
undercover007 11:54 PM - 9 November, 2009
I have no icons with a crack or lightning bolt.........I am playing mp3 files when it crashes......I only use mp3 files and a handfull of wave files..

Well, none of this info leads to any firm conclusions. The typical causes have been covered.

Can you attach your crash report?
undercover007 12:56 AM - 10 November, 2009
there is no crash report when this happens......
Rane, Support
Chad S. 4:28 PM - 10 November, 2009
That doesn't leave me much to work with.

In this case I would say, go into your "all" crate, highlight a song and then hit ctrl + a.

That should highlight everything. Now drag and drop that onto the "analyze files" tab.

We do this in hopes that it might have missed marking a bad or corrupt file.

Do you have partitioned drives on your MAC?
undercover007 10:17 PM - 10 November, 2009
I will try and analyze all files again and rebuild overviews.....does't the crash report only happen when serato crashes? In case it crashes again, where can I find it?

Under Mac OS X the crash log will be located in ~/Library/Logs/Crash Reporter/Scratch LIVE.log

In the link below is the article about it. It also includes a link to upload the crash report.
