Fashion show runway music .. anyone?

DJ Infiniti 5:49 AM 6 November 2009
Has anyone ever had to spin at a fashion show.? I am mixing the runway music but the music the people selected doesn't seem like fashion show music.. its more mellow.. around 80bpm stuff.. I would envision fashion show music to be more upbeat like electro music..

if anyone has done anything like this plz shed some light.

thx

I've done a few and it's really isn't on you what should be played. The person in charge or the designer has a idea on how they want there shows/Vibe to be set. so just go with what they want. I've done some that only wanted Latin music and others that just wanted uptempo house and electro. It's really up to them what they want unless they ask for your point of view.

Rick Ross - Here I am.

Right about 110 for ya lol ;)

Really should be on the event planner, I would think that most fashion designers would not only have a style of music, but even a song picked out for their event.

Sort of did one of these last month. I was playing at a gig recently and the promoter told me last minute they were having a fashion show for a new urban t shirt range. The guy wanted some classic stuff so I played some James Brown, Zapp, Tom Browne, Midnight, Atlantic Starr, Teena Marie that sort of thing.

But yeah its kind of on the designer as it'll be to fit their collection. I let him preview a few tracks through the headphones and he liked it and said run with that vibe.

Funnily enough that same night they had a demonstration from a local MMA Fight Club and I had to play some music for that. Ended up playing a load of Wu lol.

Weird but fun night.

Yo, play Daft Punk, Armand Van Helden, Basement Jaxx, that type of vibe, the songs don't take 8 minutes to build up, and they usually pretty funky and uptempo
