Is anyone using an external hard drive with itunes and having SL read it from there? (mac users) is this possible?

reason being i have been using itunes and SL since day one, I seen the forum on how to use an external hd with SL but i was wondering if SL can read itunes from an external hd. my playlist and organization is well put together with itunes and i think it would be hard to do that all over again with just using SL as my main source of organization.

hopefully someone can understand what I'm asking, due to me running out of space on my internal hd. thanks guys hope to get some input soon.

i used to have my set up like that. To answer you question... IT does work fine.

I prefer to put a bigger HD in my laptop and keep everything internal! I have a 1 terabyte internal drive in my laptop. plenty of space. this is the HD that i put into my comp www.bestbuy.com

Yep, I use a 320 external Firewire drive weekly with my Macbook and iTunes. You just tell iTunes that your library is on the external (hold down option key when you launch iTunes, it will ask you to "Choose Library", click that, and then navigate to External and choose iTunes library).

Then in SSL, check read iTunes Library.

Cool thing is you can have a stripped down iTunes library on your internal and a massive library on the external and use either depending on the gig. Just set it up before depending on the gig you are playing.
