Serato Software Feature Suggestions

What features would you like to see in Serato software?

Autocue please (remove leading silence)

-Serato is able to start from the first cue point, this only works in relative and internal mode. (Why is that? - if you don't wan't it, you can still turn it of...)

-If you use CDJ's, you have to use absolute mode.
-It would be very handy to have the "start from first cue point" also working in absolute mode...

This is still no real autocue, but there is a manual option to start the track immediatly from a previous stored cue point.

-The best option would be to have a real autocue , meaning that serato would automatically determine the first sound in a track (with adjustable treshhold?)
and pause on that position on new song load. (as with a CDJ..)

-And one step further: why not making a control option "vinyl or CDJ" in the setup menu? this would allow to adapt certain features depending on the control type.
(example: now with you CDJ, you have to start in absolute mode, but then you loose the 5 cue points etc...with a real CDJ mode, you could start in absolute mode, and once the track is playing, automatically switch to relative mode..)

++++1

I have been wondering why this was never a feature. It seems something soo simply that will remove alot of headache

Please this would be great!

PS; to complete this topic;

I think there are a lot of softwares on the market that could remove the leading silence in the file, but most autotagging software uses the length of a track to identify.
This means that processing your library this way is not the best option.

It would be better if serato would do this realtime on song load...

Why not? I use CDJs and have always used REL mode. I also set a cue point as an autocue for every track I play, so that it will "autocue" next time. I just always thought that was one of the purposes of the cue points. I've seen autocue on other programs, and they seem to set the cue point based on a volume threshold; not necessarily the first downbeat.

Hi Pete,

The autocue that you describe (volume treshold) is indeed the only thing I expect from an autocue in serato, and that is exact what pioneer does as well. Detecting on a beat will never work 100% perfect. (e.g. you don't automaticaly want to skip an intro before the beat - if you want that, it should be done manually)

I don't understand how you use a CDJ in REL mode from start. Will scratch live automatically pause on the first cue point that you have stored on song load ?

(Or do you work in vinyl mode on the CDJ?)

e.g. If I try to pause a new song to set a cue point on the CDJ with serato in REL mode, the song continues playing in serato, even if the CDJ is paused...

DJFP,

If volume threshold autocue is what you're looking for, I think that is a reasonable request.

As for my CD players, I use an old dual CD deck without any vinyl modes. I undertand you're point now about setting cues in real time. I guess I never think about because I typically set all my cues when I add them to my library, not when I'm working. To set cues at a gig, I typically would have to switch to INT to fine tune them; so you are right about it being more difficult than when we use vinyl.

for the Autocue via volume threshhold!!!
