Amazed.
DJK 7:25 AM - 5 August, 2006
Thats cool, but (correct me if I am wrong) he is just pretty much using ableton like a RC-20/50 or any other loop pedal. However as far as loop pedal standards go that was easily one of the best sets I've ever heard.

I just watched #2 and noticed all the other integration, I am truly impressed now...

Hey enferno, I am diggin what you do as well, but as I have seen alot of your stuff my only advice would be to streamline a little bit more, istead of using so many things (jumpin around all over the place), use a few less, but use them more thouroughly. Like put a drum controller and your keyboard over your decks, and stay put working those instruments more, and less jumping around. Just my .02 as a little constructive crticism, obviously your doing your thing and it works for you, but that is just what I think everytime I see one of your vids somewhere.

peace

That's great feedback. Keep it coming. I'd love to have everything within arm's reach, but there's just so much stuff. I'd probably have to get custom stands/mounts made for everything, and they'd have to be portable enough to travel with. I just can't see myself cutting out any equipment though.

If anyone else has constructive feedback, I'm all ears. I'm still trying to figure out the right 'target market' for this project too, so feedback on that is appreciated.
punosion 7:33 PM - 6 August, 2006
I dunno'...it seems Enferno uses all of his gear at exactly the times he needs to, and I can see how he says he can't cut any gear. He uses it all and constructs loops live, so if he cut out anything, he'd probably be compromised into playing pre-made loops and shit. I dunno'...it's like the difference between watching Orbital and The Crystal Method.
Beale Dabbs 8:57 PM - 6 August, 2006
I'm kind of in the same boat. When I'm using my big setup it's a lot of crap one one place: 2 cdj1000s, mixer, 2 laptops and their sound boxes, EFX-1000 and a Roland MC-307 to control Ableton.

Btw, Enferno, I don't know how you control Ableton's tempo but the MC-307 kills for this. You just make it the MIDI clock master, slave Ableton to it and use the pitch fader and pitch bend buttons on the 307. It makes Ableton feel like just another deck. Plus, you can keep a bunch of beats in it ready to drop in the mix when you want a little more ass on the music. You can never have enough 808 or 909 kiks and snares.
DJ Enferno 9:07 PM - 6 August, 2006
Beale,

For each routine, I memorize the bpm of the track, and just manually type into Ableton. I have 8 routines that I use in the current version of my show. The faders on the Trigger Finger can do the same thing actually. Thanks for the tip though. That EFX-1000 must be fun to play with. I noticed though, it looks a little 'wider' than the 500. Is that right?
Beale Dabbs 9:27 PM - 6 August, 2006
I don't have a 500 to compare it with but from memory it does seem to be a bit bigger. I knew that other controllers could be setup to control tempo. I just like the directness of having a traditional pitch slider and pitch bend buttons. Hopefully soon someone will finally put out a true DJ controller for Ableton DJing.
DJ Enferno 10:10 PM - 6 August, 2006
Oh nice, so you can use your pitch bend buttons? How do you map the bend buttons to Ableton?
Beale Dabbs 10:31 PM - 6 August, 2006
There is no mapping. You don't have to. It just bumps or drags the MIDI clock coming from the MC-307.
Dj Karlos 6:34 AM - 7 August, 2006
I think with ableton you could map pitch bend controls to pads in the trigger finger
