Vaio Laptop - XP2 - 512mb ram

Been using 1.5 for a while now and been totally stable. The other night I was playing at a gig in London and the screen started to go stuttery (like background tasks being done) checked - nothing was running in the background, no wifi, defragmenting etc. Went back to the Serato screen, the virtual deck started going made- the play arm that rotates started to multiply so I had loads of play arms if that makes sense. Thought I would go to the set up and change bufer size - clicking the set-up button made the machine finally hang and then I get an error on screen with (what I remember) Sub Routine Error x000000x00000 (not exactly this but hopefully you can get some sense from that). Restarted Laptop and then launched 1.5 and all worked well from there.

The ONLY thing I can think of is that I have very little hard disk space (partitioned) left but I do run a defragmenter (I have NFTS formatting so no problems) when I am not using Serato. This is the only thing I can think of. I also had center scroll on and remember scrolling quite qickly thru stuff so again maybe that caused it. Sorry I cannot be more explanatory but I was gigging and had to get my small CD back up running - quickly!

hi pachamama,

how much is "very little hard disk space" ?

when Windows runs out of RAM, which it generally does with 512MB, it starts to 'swap' memory to the hard disk.

if there's not much space, then the 'swapping' will go nuts.

also if your vaio uses 'shared graphics memory' then your RAM will be depleted by the graphics system and likewise your graphics capability might be affected by severe RAM limitations (this is merely a guess though).

Hi Josh - I have a partitioned drive

DRIVE C: 28gb system/program files //// 15.54gb free space
DRIVE D: 21GB MUSIC FILES ONLY /// 3.52GB free space

ok well that seems fine, had you built overviews for the files you were playing?

can you reproduce this at all?

Hi Josh, I have had one more crash while exiting the program (so I didn't have problems performing live) with the same Memory Error type message. I also noticed that screen redraw can, at times be a little more stuttery than in 1.5 where I don't seem to have cpu performance/or screen redraw issues. Hope this helps
