I have just transfered from vista to xp, have updated to 1.9.1 and all my set cue buttons do not work on left or right deck. Ive also got some sort of clipping noise when making a mix maybe 10 to 15 times in a 45 min mix.

Do you have playback keys use shift enabled?
some sort of clipping noise?
what is your signal path?

Hi Chris. D.
Have you checked your laptop's drivers are all up to date from your manufacturer's website?
How are you recording your mix?
What USB latency are you running on in Scratch Live?
Can you please provide your computer specs (make, model, CPU, RAM, hard drive, any other USB devices used).

My laptop spec - samsung x22 core 2 duo t8300 2.4ghz, 4gb ram, 350 gb hardrive.
I also use ext hardrive and mobile broadband usb stick but only use the broadband stick when booted into vista as have a dual boot machine.
I am recording my mix from my master out on my mixer into the mic input on my serato box i have used this method for a very very long time now with know problems at all. All my drivers on xp are up to date. The noise im trying to explain is like a sharp spiking sound like some sort of interference. im running scratchlive only on xp and am booting into vista for surfing the net. My latency is at max setting but again i have never had this problem before running the same settings. This has only happened since i have dual booted my machine and installed the new update i will try using the old 1.9 version to see if that is the problem and will let you know the outcome. Thanks C

Konix and Corse32 are right, you probably checked the playback keys use shift box in the setup screen.
As for your recording, the technique you describe is very bad for your hardware, and you should stop immediately. Summing a stereo field to mono, then plugging through a input that isn't designed for that kind of input can damage hardware over time. It may be that you are experiencing this damage now, but could also be that your system is only now displaying difficulty.
If you are going to record with your DJ laptop, get Audacity from here:
audacity.sourceforge.net
And record into your computer's LINE input (make sure you haven't selected 'mic' input).
Running the extra program may introduce more strain on your laptop, so play around with your USB buffer settings to get a good balance of performance and no USB spikes or dropouts.

Ive sorted the playback problem so thanks to konix for that. I know its not the best method to record from serato and have tried using audacity many times before but the problem i have is when i record into audacity with my laptop the recording is terrible quality i think there could be two reasons for this one being the soundcards that come with laptops are very poor or it the problem of recording into the mic input on your laptop i have tried many times to try and change it to line input rather than mic input but have had no success yet so could anyone please run me through the details of setting up using audacity and running cable into mic input on laptop please.

So it sounds like you're recording through a microphone or someting? (Garbled, or no dynamics or no bass etc?)
Go to Control Panel > Sounds And Audio Device Properties.
Under 'Audio' what are your options in the drop down box?

I have tried everything and nothing seems to solve the very poor sound quality. I have researched on the net and it seems that when you change mic input to audio input, the quality of the line inputs that come with most laptops are so poor that it is impossible to get a quality sound so looks like im gonna have to go and buy an external soundcard. Thanks for trying to help. C

While most laptop soundcards aren't professional levels, most should be ok, and not sound terrible. However you may have a very low end card. Let me know how you get on.
Maudio do some very cheap good soundcards.

Hi, i have been away djing over the last month so havent had the time to mess about on my home set up to see if i can get this method working. My laptop was 700 pounds so i guess it should have an allright soundcard so can you please run me through exactly what i should be doin to get it working. I still cannot believe the sound should be allright because i have also tried this with my previous laptop and got exactly the same problem hence the reason why i started using the mic input on scratchlive. Thankx again and sorry for taking so long on getting back to you. C

Can you right click on your speaker icon in the lower right hand corner of your screen, then select Sound Manager. Can you tell me what this says, or even better send me a screen shot? If you can, check what the 'info' says if that's an option.
