I've done a search and can't seem to find any help regarding this topic.
I'm a resident at a club, and I have a rotating set of opening DJs, none of whom use Serato (all using vinyl). Ideally, I'd like to set up Serato early (say afternoon of the gig) and leave it there until I arrive and play (midnight). My question, is there anyway of setting up and having the system work without leaving my new Macbook Pro there? I know the laptop powers the control box, so no laptop = no power to the box = turntables will not work correctly for the opening non-Serato DJ to use, or am I completely off base here.
I just don't want to have to setup in the middle of the opener's set, espcially if they don't use Serato, so I'm forced to do a setup from scratch in the space of one song.

you can buy a power supply from Radio Shack cheap to keep the SL1 running when there is no laptop

Forgive me for being completely dumb, but I assume one end goes into the usb port in the box and the other end into the power outlet?

krown,
There is an input for the power supply on the SL1 box. Just set up the box early and when you get to the club, plug in your USB cable from you computer to the SL1 and your good to go.

Hey Zach,
I been kinda working w/ another guy on the forum here, Mike Coquilla... he said I can piggyback the power from the mixer to the SL interface box without using a power adapter. Just wondering if you also knew how to do this using the Hosa cords?

Thanks,
Ollie

To bypass the thrus of the box, thus not needing an external power supply, you would need something like this>>
www.hosatech.com
For two turntables you would need to buy 4 adaptors.
One for each right and left of both turntables.

if that is indeed your residency it would be wise to just leave a pair of these permanently connected (between the phono and the mixer).
this way, u will not need to power your usb to arm the thrus for the non serato spinners. also, u won't need to leave your sl1 at tha club. u can show up after all the warm up djs are wrapped up.... grab the other end of the piggy back cables and feed em to your sl1 in's.
i've even had the luxury to spin with another fellow ssl dj (DJ Lorrence) at the same time at a club....toggling back and forth between a pc lappy (my dell) & Lorrence's MBP by my sl1 input tied into his sl1's thru.... luckily tha club had a Rane mp44 (Lorrence was on channels 1 & 3....while i was on channels 4 & 5).
