Couple Of Ideas

Ok I have been using SSL for a couple of weeks now and I have a couple of ideas for features that could be added.
ONE: How about adding an option to automatically stop a a track end even if the time code signal is still present (a bit like the single play function on CD Decks).
TWO: This follows on from the first, the addition of a RELAY play facility would be good as well. For example, you could be playing a track on deck 1 and have a second track ready to go on deck two. Deck 1 would be running in absolute mode and deck two would be in internal mode. With the option for auto track end detection set and the relay mode turned on, when the track ends on deck 1 the track on deck 2 begins to play.
You can guess that I'm a CD deck user as opposed to vinyl but I see no reason why they would not be good for vinyl users too. They are not suggested as lazy DJ features, more as an assist like making sure the music continues when you can't get served at the bar. Yes you can shove in a mix CD but it would be nice to have additional back-up.

this sound like an autopilot mode... it has been suggested before :P
and i agree, for clubs this mode will be very helpful because sometimes there is no need to have a human dj playing music...
and yes, we could use another program (winamp, itunes...) but then the club owner would be forced to buy another good sound card (internal ones sucks!)

BC, if the SSL team makes an ASIO driver for SSL then winamp is fine, isnt it? :)

writing a reliable ASIO driver is non-trivial at best. i would be very surpised if serato actually decided to write one.

I would like to make my SSL Box as 2 soundcards to record my vinyls.

Serato Team, you know what you have to do now (lol but should be nice).

Yeah that will be so nice, the SSL box as a 2 inputs / 2 outputs sound cards..
Possible to record my vinyls easily (with a laptop is not so good) and to play my computer music through the SSL BOX / MIXER!!
That will be a nice improvment for the future!

How can this be more practical? Wouldn't you still have to use the same amount of cables as you do now?

Other than the recording function, of course...Sorry, I was looking at another thread.

Interesting stuff guys didn't realise something like this had been suggested before. I did a search and nothing came up so thought it would be fine. I agree that it would be nice to see them expand the box to allow digital control of the system and yes additional line inputs for recording would be good too. Although the electronics engineer in me says that when you begin to over complicate things there is very often more to go wrong so I think we add things to the hardware with a little caution. Let's face it, a certain known manufacturer in competition with SSL has gone down this road partially and the result has not been very good - partly the reason why I went for this system.

According to the principle "keep it simple & tight thus managable" :-P
