Serato Software Feature Suggestions

What features would you like to see in Serato software?

More Accurate Looping

Hi,

I generally like Serato a lot more than Final Scratch; however, I like Final Scratch's looping more. When you mark in, it marks right at the start of the beat and the end of the beat you want (16 beats for example)...with serato you have to manually mark in when the beat hits, but it always lands late, so when it loops it doesn't loop properly, you then have you adjust it. If you want to loop a track that is playing out, this isn't very efficient and sounds terrible. Also, being able to quickly tell the computer how many beats you want in the loop is a great feature. If you set the loop to 16, then want to go to 4 or 2 or 1 for a build up, Final Scratch does that. There should be a set beats amount for looping which you can use, or do manually. The manual looping in Serato just isn't accurate enough. Maybe there is a way to do this while the record is playing out and I haven't figured it out yet.

Thanks,
KK

I feel ya, manual looping is difficult. Auto looping should be comming soon though.

i agree with you... and lot of SSL users agree also!

we need auto-looping.

I hear what you're saying but I don't find it that difficult. I scratch the record real slow at the beginning point and hold the record while pressing loop in, then do the same for the loop out point. Once you've set the out, you're already scratching the in again and you just go ahead an mix the loop. I used to do the same thing on the CDJ and CDX, as its always more accurate than doing it in real-time. Obviously the downside is you loose some time but you loose more if you have to reset it.

The point is to be able to do beat loops on the fly, this is something that is already in final scratch, and has been on pioneer CDJs. Something I was hoping would be in the original 1.4, and i was very disappointed it wasn't.

Agreed. I would like to see loop/cue points that automatiacaly jump to the nearest peek in the wave.

It the loop point is on a peak there would be a click every time it loops.
Loop points are normally placed on zero crossing points.

right. zero point of course, next to the largest peaks.

I like the idea you guys have put forward, Auto looping ala traktor 3 would be cool. I'd also like to see this as an and/or:

I'd like to see 1st midi implementation for serato and then with the use of a midi controller a way to manually adjust the start and end loop point with a turn of a rotary pot. I want to get the akai MDP24, i could assign 2 x 3 pads (L/R x start loop, end loop, turn loop on and off) and then assign 2 x 2 knobs (L/R x Loop beginning trim, loop end trim)

I'm agree with autoloop !

Juggle the beat maybe?
