Hi guys,
I formatted my computer and went to load on SSL.. I soon realised for windows to pick it up I needed to download the windows XP drivers since I didn't use the original installation CD (scratchlive.net).
Unforunately I still get the "Cannot install this hardware: There was a problem installing this hardware: Serato USB device.. The system cannot find the file specified" message, and it's starting to worry me !!! I seem to have done everything I thought possible.. including trying 4 USB ports, using the original installation CD, redownloading SSL 1.5 etc and it still doesn't work.
Please help, I have a gig in a couple of days :(
Cheers,
Ben

I think the problem has something to do with my laptop.
I tried my mate's SSL Box and cable on my laptop to no avail.
And when I successfully installed onto my brother's laptop, using my own SSL box and cable.

i did the same thing recently, and had the same problem, as far as i can remember, i think i went to control panel, add hardware wizard, and installed the driver from there. i think you have to select the option that says you have already connected the hardware. and it should show ssl with a yellow question mark. select that and install driver from whereever you have saved it.....i think that should do it

thanks for the reply j cue..
I tried using the "add hardware wizard" and selecting "already connected the hardware" but it only gives me the option of viewing the troubleshooter.. how did you get it to give you the option of installing the drivers from there?

[windows][pause break]
Hardware
Device manager
Universal serial bus controllers
right click the serator device and 'update driver'
Install from a list or specific location
search best driver/include this location
point to the place where you unpacked the software, teh USB drivers are there
that should do it..

Tried what you said paulheu, but it still gives me the "was a problem installing this hardware" message.
I've found a way around it though, kinda.
When I install the drivers, serato actually works even though it says there was a problem during installation. However, I have to re-install the drivers every time I plug the serato USB cord in, otherwise it doesn't pick up the interface :(

bennyt,
When you go to your device manager do you see the yellow question mark and exclamation point under "universal serial bus controllers" or "other devices"?
I'm sure the problem is something with the way your installing the driver. I would tell you to do just what pualheu said to do and that should do the trick.
