just now, beta 1.9 area said there were 24 un-viewed messages. there was only 1 once I got into the sub-forum. This happens a lot

How many messages were in that thread with the unread message? 24 ish? Can you remember which thread it is?

Do you use the "mark all messages as read" function?

The actual problem is... after using that function, this is what is happening, example:

Offtopic Section: clicked on "mark all as read", after a few minutes area showed 767 new posts,... Which was the sum of all (incl. already read) posts in all threads which head unread messages.
