I have that radio shack one, I hope that isnt the part that sucks, i thought i was getting the lines and distortion from the vga to svideo adaptor so I replaced that (get it this week).
Steve Dub, how far do you have to run the s-video cables? MY club has 2 50 ft and 2 100ft cables running to that amp splitter.

honestly, if you can talk your club into upgrading to VGA, it actually cost me less to get my VGA setup for my mobile gigs that it cost to get S-video at the club!
$70 for the vga amp splitter and 5 VGA cables (15ft -25ft)!! you cna get up to 100 ft vga tho.

Yeah you gotta upgrade then to the link I set above, it works really good, and is clear and hell. infact, after using my mobile all last weekend, i got back to the club and it was so distorted i thought it was broke, only I was used to the quality VGA connection.

DUB, that's a crackup. That's what I bought like 6 years ago. Funny thing is, I haven't used it in 6 years either. I had to use it Saturday night for my gig though. And yes it looked like crap compared to the HD look I get at Rudy's.

Yeah, like I said, I'd like to fix it but they don't pay me nearly enough to rewire all 3 plasmas. Fuck that.LOL my club uses the S-video I ran last summer and unless I get them to upgrade TVS Im not touchin the cables either.

I haven't done my first video gig yet, gonna try Friday. I tried to wire the tvs Monday to the shitty tvs. They have 4 toshiba tvs.(non hd) the type of tvs that still have long backs ( no flatscreens). In the middle of the bar there are the 2 cheapest panasonic flatscreens on the market. The toshibas don't have remotes or any way to switch the input from cable to my video. So that's out. The two shitty panasonics have an input button in the front so I'm gonna try those two. I'm also using a single RCA (yellow) to each tv to a distributer to my MacBook connection. All that playing franchise records low quality videos. I'm expecting the worst. I'm not lookin forward to it.
Well that's my story for the day.
Good times.

Have you considered using an agile modulator to connect to the tv's? at least you'd be able to get into the tv's. buying a $5 universal remote would solve your problems then. just a thought.

I've been using the Radio Shack distributer and haven't noticed anything wrong.
I don't spend much time looking at the videos though.
I have 3 distribution boxes made by Audio Authority. I bought them at Circuit City's closeouts. I haven't tried any of them yet. Does anyone here have one?

i set up the radio shack one in my friday gig going to 2 projectors and a wireless av feed for the patio and we don't have any issues with it. the trick i did was to use an inline noise filter on the plug before it goes to the mains power. this cleans out any unwanted signals. the main run from the djs booth to the splitter is 50' then 20' to the two projectors and well the wireless is wireless. i even have the same one for mobile gigs and again use the filter and no problems. you def won't get the same pic as an hdmi cable but lets face it the industry/clubs aren't even ready for hdmi. i haven't been in one club with video that had an hdmi input. the best i see is RBG and to me thats not much dif than s video to the nacked untrained eye.

I've used this before and never noticed a problem with noise or ghosting lines in the video... that is, WHEN it would work.
We went through 3 or 5 of these things on tour. They would work for a handfull of shows and start crapping out until they wouldn't work at all. They are definitely not made to stand up to heavy use.
We use one of these now. www.bhphotovideo.com

I was just reading the owners manual. These things look great. You can daisy chain them and hook up as many TVs a you want.
