Exporting Compilation DVD without proper Chapter Markers

So, I just got this comp CD from ebay. It's a genuine disc with videos from the 50's & 60's.

The problem that I'm facing is that Handbrake, and also Mac The Ripper can either rip the entire 2 Hours into 1 file or individually break up the chapter by how ever they are defined.

The way they divided up the chapters, for a few seconds of the 2nd video you are actually seeing the ending of the first video. So some videos are ending abruptly before the proper ending. Am I making sense?

What is the trick for maybe taking the full 2 hrs into 1 .VOB and then breaking it up exactly at what Minute:Second marker I want?

Um, it's a DVD (not a CD)

rip the whole thing to two VOB's with MTR. use Toast to make a disc image with chapter markers every minute. if you make 2 titles, then you'll have enough markers to make 1 per minute. mount the disc image, then open in handbrake and proceed.

This may sound dumb but what's "MTR"?

Nevermind, just figured it out. LOL

Here is what I would do:

Open the DVD (or the ISO image of the DVD) with mpegstreamclip directly
Find the beginning of your first video, hit the i key (marks the in point)
Find the end of your first video, hit the o key (marks the out point)
Choose file save as

It will save an MPEG file that only includes IN<->OUT. It does not re-encode so it is bit perfect and very fast. Also realize that the nearest I frame is where the cuts will be so it's not frame accurate. If it's a short GOP pattern, no big deal.

I'm pretty sure you'll find my way the easiest or my name isn't a-swift.

I wasn't aware of the i and o key thing. I've only been using MPEG streamclip to convert whole .VOB files to MP4. I like it more than handbrake because I can do higher audio bitrates.

I like this easy way.

Will give a try later tonight. These old videos of Elvis & Chubby Checker are going to come in handy.

Thanks a-swift.

You Da Man a-swift.

this "I" and "O" is saving my right now. I'm looking at Toni Braxton's With Love DVD and was having trouble finding the hidden videos in the bonus features. MPEG Streamclip loaded them as Disc 2 when I said Open DVD. Now I got videos of her house remixes at my disposal.

BTW, I didn't know Toni could sing in spanish so well.
