Optimizing PC laptop to run Video SL smoother

It's running fairly good, but does anybody have any ideas of things that I can do within windows to help Video Sl run better. The laptop that I am using is not mine and it has Vista on it. So I am a little unsure of how to optimize performance with this operating system, as I don't use it on my other computers.

I find when I am loading and cross fading videos it will cause a little lag in the video and audio at times.

Any help would be appreciated.

processor scheduling set to background services, no sidebar, appearance set for best performance, wifi off during performances, virus scan disabled during performance, unnecessary apps closed and not running in taskbar.

Check out Vista Service Optimizer, its a pretty easy way to play with disabling nonessential system services.
