I also had this issue before. I was using virtual DJ and Serato SL1 at the time. For me it was working fine then one day it started stuttering. I tried using different computers (went through three computers and all were windows PCs) and had the same issue. After getting the 57 SL and Video SL. I still had this issue and the 57 SL made the computer overheat (still using PC). Once I got a Mac Book Pro. The stuttering issues pretty much went away. I still see stuttering on my Mac Book Pro when I play audio for a while then switch to video (not using any type of video on the audio only songs). Does it on the Mac Book Pro but only when I switch back to video from doing an audio set (I would switch to a DVD when I was doing audio only sets). Once I start doing video again, it stutters on first video then everything is ok. The stutter only shows on the Mac Book Pro and not on the main screen. With the Pc's it would show the stutter on the main screen also. Kinda of annoying. Now instead of using a video switcher to a dvd player when playing only audio I started using the Promoonly Ambient's. This pretty much made the problem go away. Have not had any issues after doing only audio sets or doing only video and ambients on audio only sets.

Apple Mac Book Pro has shown me the light. Mac is really the only way to go when it comes to Video SL. I am currently using the SL1 Box and a Mac Book Pro on either Pioneer CDJ 800s or Technic 1200s and love doing video sets. Of course this is only my opinion.

i had this problem on pc. sounds like your 'tv-out' on your graphics card is not hardware accelerated. are you useing s-video out of your computer? if so that is probably the problem. try vga out at see if it's better.

ps. i couldn't fix this until i got a mac. all outputs on mac cards are hardware accelerated.

Okay, look, I myself am as good as totally new to the VSL thing, but I had crashes the very first times I tried out the video plugin and I'm trying to help you out a little bit. Since I left out some things however it works perfectly and I even allready did a live set without any problems. So bear with me...

You might consider that VSL does not work good with divx codec. I got an immediate full on crash (on a macbook pro) trying that codec. I see your second video is xvid so this may be 'similar' to divx and don't work with vsl.
First off, check out if you have any problems running two mp4 files. Then try several mp4's... If it all works well, then try mixing in a divx/xvid. Got a crash? Well I guess it's the codec... Convert the avi (divx) to an mp4 and try again...

Hope this works...

Greetz,
NLS

I now strictly use mp4/m4v files and they play smooth as hell.
