How do i install Serato on my macbook running the 10.6.8 OSX

How do i install Serato on my macbook running the 10.6.8 OSX

Just purchased 2 Pioneer DDJ SX and downloaded everything according to the instructions.

I read the requirements and noticed it didnt mention 10.6.8, only 10.7 and up... but thought maybe it would still work ok. It didnt, didnt load and is viewed as an application that cant be open (line through it).

Surely there is a way to and location to download a version that works with Snow Leopard 10.6.8, if you know I'd appreciate you sharing.

If push comes to shove, I can always go into terminal and adjust the plist so that snow leopard is recognized as mountain lion to trick the system into downloading. I dont see why i'd need to do this as the older more stable osx version is more commonly used as a result of requiring less from the cpu.

~Using a black macbook running 10.6.8 for dj needs, not planning on upgrading to mountain lion as it requires more resources.

Solved:

Just got word from Nathaniel on the Serato who pointed me to the right direction, appreciated the follow up.

what you need is Serato 1.6.3. Hope this helps anyone in the future.

Its for those that are running the older osx 10.6.8 Snow Leopard which is better for Serato user. It consumes less resources providing more reliability.

whew!!! thats a relief!!! i just recieved a mac for free and it has OS X 10.5.8. Does run with no issues?

i had to upgrade the mac to 10.6.8 then to 10.7.5…..flawless! now I'm running serato dj 1.8.2….u have to upgrade to os x lion for any of the latest updates, but os x lion is not supported by sera to

Are you referring to the Numark Mixtrack Pro 2? If so, then yes, you should have no issues with Serato DJ 1.6.3.

my macbook pro is down so i had to go back to my white macbook can the pioneer sx2 work on this macbook it has mac os 10.6.8 on it

sorry the pionner ddj sx2 works with mac osx mountain lion or any later operating system if your looking for controller that works with 10.6.8 you must get a pioneer ddjsr or a pioneer ddjsx or or a pioneer ddj sz

Even though 10.6.8 is a very old OS X it actually is supported. See the SZ specs here www.pioneerdj.com

I would say any 1.7 or 1.8 version. Not sure if 1.9 is supported for snow leopard. Why not update your OS X? An old system?

Need help please. I have Serato Pioneer DJ DDJ-SZ2 and a Mac OSX 10.6.8 but it tells me that the application requires 10.7 or later. Can you please send me a link or any suggestion. By the way my software are all updated. Please help thank you.

To be precise no one avoided your question you were running old OS X software that doesn’t support your controller cause it’s newer and requires a more recent OS X. How did you solve it by finally updating your OS X?

If you check the Numark site you’ll find out. Click the specs tab and scroll down you’ll see that Mac OS 10.6 or later is supported.
