Recording on TTM57SL

DJ Ajniad 8:43 AM - 3 May, 2006
I saw the video with the guy explaining that you could record your set with the new TTM57SL and you can edit your mixes later on since you record each output on separate channels. This is great! my question is:
Is this possible in the new SSL program (beta 1,5) aswell or do you need the TTM57SL to be able to do this?

I've been searching this forum but I can't find any list of new features in the upcomming SSL release. (1,5)

Im no sure if I should buy the regular Scracth Live box or the Rane Mixer. So I need you guys to help me out and try to answer my questions.

It can only work with the TTM57SL as it has the capabilities, wont work with the SL1, as it is not designed for that.

If you need this feature I would say cop the TTM57SL.

k, thanks. That feature is very important for me. Im a mixtape DJ and that feature will make things alot easier in the future.

You also got a list of the new features in SSL software 1,5?

You can have a look for yourself, just sign up for the 1.5 Public Beta. Thread is sticky in General section.

ok, where is that video? i have the ttm 57, i cannot record seperately!

You need to get the ASIO drivers. This wont work if SSL is running at the same time.

Not yet, hopefully this will be added in the future as the mixer has the capability to do this it just needs the firmware and software to do the job.

Not a video, but a posting from a moderator, check out this thread scratchlive.net <- click, Steve W from Serato said:

I'll elaborate a little on the recording capabilities. This is a USB1.1 audio device that supports 8 streaming channels of audio. In terms of bandwidth utilization this mixer actually uses less than the SL 1. Even so, it adds the ability to record your mix while using two control records or CDs.

How can this be? Well what we've done is moved some of the processing that Scratch LIVE does into a DSP chip built into the mixer. In the current implementation that means half as much data needs to be sent over the USB connection, so reading both control records consumes just 1 of the available stereo pairs to the computer.

Shame you can't do the post fader recording on each channel whilst using control signals though.

Actually this will be possible. I can't say for sure if the software will support it on ship day, but the mixer was definitely designed with this in mind. We weren't willing to list a feature that we weren't sure would be ready when the mixer first ships.
