Removal of 'Shift' to get to the secondary pad features on the Pioneer DDJ-SZ

I am not sure if this is a hardware incompatibility or what but I'm really not feeling how it's mandatory to press shift to get to the secondary features of the pads of the DDJ-SZ. On the DDJ-SX you could just press the pad-selector button twice to get to the secondary features. Now with the DDJ-SZ your forced to hold shift. Is this a hardware issue that can't be adjusted with the software?

Yeah, for Serato DJ. I really liked how with the DDJ-SX I could switch between the two different slicer modes just by pressing the slider button multiple times. With the DDJ-SZ I have to press shift whenever I want to get to the secondary slicer mode. Same with the other pad selections. It just doesn't seem necessary and it's annoying.
