Can I use the serato software too play on my laptop without decks or turntable? Or can I use it with American Audio VMS2?

I've downloaded the software for Serato DJ Intro. I've done everything suggested my DDJ sb2 controller is hooked up properly however I'm still getting an! Triangle stating that my Hardware is not connected. Why is that
