The above link states that the recommended graphics card has 256mv VRAM, but it then goes on to say that serato recommend 1gb dedicated video ram. So is 1gb VRAM actually required?

I'm looking at a2012 mbp i7 16gb , but with a GeForce 650m gt 512mb VRAM. Would this suffice?

It mans 256 might work, but its going to work like shit. your not going to get any effects, your going to get low FPS and dont even think about anything HD. but it will turn on.

this will do ok. Again dont expect great HD performance, don't expect to do advanced things with syphon or other VJ programs simultaneously. But it will work to play 1 video into another just fine.

Ok. Initially bought a core 2 duo but had to upgrade coz of audio drop outs. I now have an I7 10gb ram, ssd but need to upgrade as now looking at moving into video.

What do I need to look at re graphics cards to be golden?

any mac with a dedicated 1 GB video card or better will be fine. i7 and 16 gb of ram. SSD is not needed. But a really fast external that does NOT use USB is.
