I do allot of vid editting and design work so recently purchased adobe CS4... And with it comes adobe Media encoder which is the balls for converting video files as it has all formats under the sun + is fully customisable. Highly recommend this as download. Get a 30 day trial from Adoe's site!

I dont see Adobe Media Encoder listed anywhere in the bundles? Is it a part of Creative Suite4 ?

Maybe master coll.

they don't list it on there website but its bundled with flash as it was renamed from
Adobe Flash Video Encoder. If you just want to encode a flv or do live streams there is a version that just does that from any video source (Flash Media Live Encoder 3 www.adobe.com )

It comes bundeled with preimere. With the master collection i can't install mediaencoder with also installing premiere. It's premiere's little sidekick.

I just tried using it and it wouldn't accept an avi file I have.

i don't use the MP4 output from MediaEncoder. it's Main Concept and it's not that great. i export from Premiere to Media Encoder and encode to Mov (uncompressed and res. aspect etc same as mpg source). then encode Mov to mp4 via VisualHub. seems like an extra step but it takes just as long (uncompressed Mov encodes quick) and is the best workflow from Premiere to Serato MP4 i've found. looks better than FCP to compressor, in my opinion. having said that, all the other formats i've tried out in MediaEncoder look great. just not a big fan of mainconcept.

I just find it really nice to use as a windows based solution.
itchie 11:50 PM - 8 March, 2009
I agree. For some reason i can't encode a Mov (uncompressed) from Premiere in mediacoder. The audio is WAAAAY off sync coming from mediacoder. I wish i could figure out the problem.

Itchie, I gave up on mediacoder. Besides the audio/video lag, and the audio artifacts in the audio, I just uninstalled it.
