Who Uses Ableton Live?

Hello People,
I just bought Ableton Live and wanted to see who else on here has it and is using it.
Also, if you have made anything with Ableton, by all means post a link in this thread! I know it is going to take me awhile to grasp everything, but I am very interested to see just what can be done with this software.
Peace

I essentially got it for remixing and edits, but it seems like there is a lot that can be done.
On a side note, Ableton and Akai have produced the ultimate Midi controller called the APS 40.
I am a little sad because I just bought an MPC 1000!!! guess I will keep it and do what I can, but I almost wish I took a little more time and thought about how to integrate everything.

^ actually, pretty sure he doesn't. I think he uses audition for production - not sure what he uses for live performances but I remember reading that it was something other than Live.

I liked everything so far Soo. The James Bond thing is kinda weird to do, but you made it work.

and look at the 'arrangement' view as opposed to 'session' view.. if you used a previous multi-tracking program, the 'arrangement' view will look similiar.

heh - you should try Logic - that shit is confusing as hell :-\.
Ableton is actually pretty straightforward for the most part.

I'm no even sure how to approach it for remixing! Technology always intimidates me for some reason...

I was watching all the vids on Ableton.com about Ableton 8. That share feature, hosting your sessions on Ableton Servers looks DOPE! Plus, they allow you to share publicly, which is a good way to learn sophisticated projects from other people. Dopetastic

Anyone know of any good tutorials to recommend?
I'll scan youtube again later. I tried last night and I was really disappointed. I wish people would exhibit some quality control, but that is asking waaay too much!
Everyone wants to teach without even knowing what they are doing. Tons of garbage.
I am playing with it right now and am loving it already. The elasticity of the program is incredible and makes it really fun to use. I'm just layering two tracks that are the same BPM and it is no problem to zoom in, create, cut and paste loops within the brace.
really f***in' smoothe is what I'm saying.

yea, my partner has taught me a lot about production, but he's mainly a cubase user... there are places you can take ableton live classes in my city - one of my friends is sponsored by ableton and I've been meaning to hook up with him, but he's more on the live band/live looping type tip.

Tom's Diner is virgin tight.
If you have Ableton remixes, please post them so I can bite your ideas.
I love the program so far. The manual is a bit of a chore, but I am reading the whole thing, going through tutorials and watching vids as well.
Now I am having a mental dilemma about my Akai MPC 1000...I just bought it, but I might sell the thing at this point and go for the APC 40.
I didn't play with the MPC enough to know if that is the right decision, but getting a taste for what Ableton is capable of makes me think that I may not need the MPC at this point.

Why would you get the APC 40? Get the NI Maschine or an Akai MPD 32.
The APC 40 is geared more for live performance and isn't idea for drum/sample triggering.

Hmmmmmmm you may be right! I need to research all this stuff and think about my next move. I just want a nice basic, integrated set up.
Thanks for that tip.
You owe me some remixes homey! I wanna hear what you got.

What audio interfaces are you all using for ableton? I'm still learning it and just ordered a ni maschine and an apogee duet. Good call or not??

well, the one thing I think MPCs do have over Ableton is sound quality. Something about ableton's mixdown algorithm seems to make tracks sound a little too compressed. From what I understand, it's possible to get great sounding tracks w/ ableton, but it takes a lot more work whereas an MPC (or something like Logic, Cubase, or Protools) sounds a lot brighter or fuller...

Thats why I've started to mixdown back to Protools. Just do my production in Ableton.
Once I get a mac, I'll be done with Ableton and be in like sin with Logic

Anyone? There is a LOT of crap up there, but who has the tutorial vids WORTH watching? Free time is fleeting and precious, I need to get with the learning that works lol.

my opinion ableton is in a way better for live performing or remixing. however logic still one of the best software to create music at home studio. never the less you guys should try to combine them both by rewire to get the best of both programs.

I looked for ableton tutorials for a while and ended up doing a couple of courses at my local DJ shop. So much faster to learn from somebody that knows the program backwards and can answer any question in direct relation to practical uses rather than just showing how something is down.
Spent about $700 (AUD) doing 8 hours worth of courses and am completely confident with ableton now. With the video I was constantly stopping to search up how to do different things.

Ableton noob question (posted this in another thread too, my apologies. trying to find some Ableton heads who can help!):
I am finally starting to figure out warping and got a short demo mix tracked out in Session View. I tried to export it to .wav and it only exported the first track. How do I export the whole mix? Do I have to record it internally first? I tried to start a new audio track and record there, but the audio is coming in all distorted and clipping. How do I fix this?
Thanks in advance!
