What's the best software to edit MP4's

DJ De Leon 1:38 AM - 19 February, 2009
I am trying to edit my mp4 files but I'm not sure what software (free or option to buy) is out there for Macs and PC's.

Which one works better?

Also I went from a VOB to MP4 and was wondering should I first edit the VOB file and then convert to MP4.

Thanks

What kind of editing are you trying to do. Please be more specific as there are many different types of programs both free and paid.

don't edit mp4 if you don't need to. Edit the original vob file if you have it. If you have a PC I recommend Sony Vegas. On mac, final cut pro.

Will imovie 08 edit vob files?

That's currently on my mac.

Thanks

I want to cut a segment of a VOB file and paste it into a new file and then convert in to MP4 to be later taged to a mp3 file to run on seartos video program.

I go it to work in imovie. I first converted the file to mp4 using handbrake.

I renamed the file to have an extension of .mp4 so that imovie can see the file.

I them imported the mp4 file into imovie and selected the frames that I wanted.

Imovie 08 would not allow me to edit a VOB file or import it from a DVD.

Mpegstreamclip can do that. And it's free

What you are doing with iMovie is going to result in horrible quality.
DJ De Leon 9:54 PM - 19 February, 2009
really?

Okay I will try mpegstreamclip.

I'm converting ambient videos to mp4 not music videos.

imovie gives you an ouput resolution option of 960 x 540

mpegstreamclip will output in any size
