Serato Video General Discussion

Talk about Serato Video and Video-SL.

Using the scs 3.d DaScratch will it work?

shaukd 10:40 PM - 11 February, 2009
I noticed that in the new version that you will be able to use a midi controller to change the video. I have been looking at the scs 3d and was wondering if anyone knew if you could use this controller for the video fader. It would be cool to use the controller effects and the fader with this contoller, but just wondering if anyone has looked at it and if whether it might work or not...

Thanks

There is not reason why this would not work.

Wasn't there an earlier thread about the fact that you cannot use a platter that's just midi?
shaukd 9:47 PM - 13 February, 2009
Right but I belive that I also read that when 1.1 comes out it will need a midi to do the cross fader for the video. I still want to use some of its other features but if you can assign the xfader thats going to be even better. I like the effects on my 909 or I would have bought the 57 already. Just anxious to try something new.

Hi guys,

I did the current SSL preset coding for SCS.3d... We are looking to combine the updates with 1.9 also with video SL. But need to check what is mappable and how it all works but we DEFINITELY want to create a preset that supports 1.1...

Right now my idea is that Video SL is essentially a 3rd deck in the deck switcher. Essentially when you switch between decks by tapping deck you will got from deck a to deck b. However if you hold deck it will bring up a way to direct select a deck, so you can select deck a / b or the video deck. This way people without video SL wont ever notice the difference.

The current press and hold DECK functionality for quick loads will move in this regard though.

I'll be very interested to get everyone's feedback on the maps when the update comes out. We will be posting our proposed mappings before we implement so we can get everyone's opinion before doing the heavy lifting.

Thanks Jim thats what I was looking for, a hope...I like dascratch and will be excited to see how the mapping works!

No problem! We are wrapping up another preset for *another* dj app... but its essentially done so will switch focus to SSL again (hehe, it got all my love for initial release). This hopefully correspond to the new release so timing is great!

Unfortunately I don't have a TTM57 so I need to get my head around the video controls...

Serato Tech Support, let me introduce you to Jim Spree. Jim, Serato tech support.

Serato, Jim has a product that looks cool, may solve some midi issues that are out there, and will allow DJ's the opportunity to not bring decks / turntables to a gig, yet still get all the tools we need to do out job.

One of you guys offer to take the other out for drinks and let's get some presets!!

Now for the serious post. I have used DVJ's for 5 years. To me that is the standard. In moving to Serato I have to have both the quality AND the reliability that I have been used to.

I have stated before that without MPEG2 Serato isn't there yet. I also haven't seen a great deck replacement yet as well. And for me swapping out 3 DVJ's for 2 turntables or other decks doesn't work. I want new, cool and rock solid. I would also like to reduce my truckload of crap I haul with me every time I do a spot in a club, college or other gig.

The Da'Scratch looks very cool but obviously I don't know how they work yet. I am however excited about the newer controllers that are starting to appear.

Thanks Justin,

Serato has provided me with a serial number for VideoSL so very excited for the release to drop and start MIDI mapping!

This is cool, I will be reading both forum sites waiting for the updates...Although you can buy a cheaper midi control DaScratch does some pretty cool tricks that if intigrated with video will be pretty neat in a set...
