i'll look at it when i'm not at work. i like seeing what other people are doing with their video edits, jacking their ideas, making them mine, and then making everyone think i make awesome video edits.

Dude, you got a problem with me, then call me or email me. I'm not hard to find online.

You are an extreme hypocrite. You take copyrighted material that you DO NOT OWN that you have never been authorized to re-sale or remix and then make money off of it. There is no justifying what you do or how you do it, so stop trying to make yourself feel better by bashing me for extracting a 20sec clip from another existing video that was produced in the same fashion -- copyright infringement.

I've had many of my original remixes STOLEN then placed on compilations or albums that I never received any money from or even been asked permission first. If I remixed an artist or song I didn't own or have license agreements with, then there's nothing I can do about it. I didn't own it in the first place. Once its out there, its free game. That's the risk I took when putting them up online.

I've already seen many of my own videos on other peoples websites with their names covering mine. I've even helped other DJs getting started by giving them videos with THEIR names over mine to help brand them in their own towns. Big Deal. I didn't own the material anyways. I just remixed or mashed it. I have no ground to stand on. You don't see me crying on public forums or trying to justify that what us video remix DJs do is legal. Its not and unless you have written authorization with terms, territories & a release from the songwriter, label, producer & manager of whatever artist you remixed or mashed, it is COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT.

The benefit right now is that those few services like 8th, SM, CC, etc. are allowing those who do not have the time, money or experience in making their own videos a chance to get them. Sooner or later, the RIAA will step in and shut all these illegal record pool & remix sites down.

BTW - You live in Vegas. I'll be there first week of March. FYI

P.S. - I don't even know you & you don't know me. Why should I care if I "lost your respect"? Trying to make everyone here believe that you are a legitimate video remixer who is legally producing & releasing videos is a shame. No respect from me either :-(
B0N35 6:06 AM - 12 February, 2009
whoah guys... take a chill pill... stay on topic....
Culprit 6:29 AM - 12 February, 2009
honestly dj brian howe why do you even care what people on this forum think?

just stop swagger jackin other video services and remixers.
Niro 6:56 AM - 12 February, 2009
Haha, I thought this was over awhile ago. Seriously we sample all of our stuff from other people's work, the director, artist....etc. Nothing is that new. What's funny is how many audio remixes gets sampled or re-edited and put on supposed respectable digital pool services and highly excepted.

If you plan on releasing your work, expect a percentage of it to get jacked, copied or sampled, just like the artist of the song. If you don't want it jacked, than don't release it. Keep it too yourself for your own use. I've seen a few videos that have sampled some of my videos, but I was aware of it when I put it out.

This whole video DJ thing is very small right now, everyone needs to work together to raise it to the next level. Or some stupid shit will happen and ruin it for all of us.

I just watched a little bit of it, but the lips are really off, there's time when she's singing, but no vocal is on the song. Also you need to watch out on your transitions from one clip to the next. Your catching a frame or two of the next clip. Keep at it.
DJ-Phat-AL 8:25 AM - 12 February, 2009
he is a funny guy with his wisdom about copyright infringements...

I have a new movie coming out brian howe style called starr warrs... I only changed the spelling and the credits in the film with my name.
DJ-Phat-AL 8:25 AM - 12 February, 2009
... I have nothing against him

just don't care
a-swift 5:36 PM - 12 February, 2009
i know my edits won't be showing up anywhere unless someone breaks into my computer and steals them. here's how i do it. i don't send my edits anywhere to anyone for any reason, and i don't post them online (not any i care about at least).

this has worked 100% for me, and it will work for you too.

The funny thing is that in this entire rant you never deny that you jack other DJs/VJs remixes. All you try to do is justify it with the usual legal jargon.

Out of curiousity, what remixes that YOU actually took the time to create were taken and used on remix compilations. Which company stole them? What sites have stolen your videos?
B0N35 7:19 PM - 12 February, 2009
should i change this thread to: DJ Brian Howe Debate lol.

Thanks for that, i did rush the edit... Just cause I wanted to play with Vegas... Thanks for your input...
a-swift 7:25 PM - 12 February, 2009
the first thing any edit will always draw critiscm about, is when there are lips moving on the screen but there are no words in audio. also, when you get flashes on cuts because you didn't take into consideration the fields of the material (or other causes).

Niro said, look out for when you are catching a frame of the incoming/outgoing clip on your transitions. I took it one step further and said even though it looks perfect on you are right on the cut point in vegas (you don't see any flashing or remants), when you render you get the previous/next single frame flashes on your cut points. these can be caused because you are cutting right on the transition point and that particular frame can be made up of two fields, one from the incoming clip and 1 field from the outgoing clip. Remember, EVERY frame of interlaced video is comprised of two fields. That means, at the cut point in the original VOB, it is impossible to have a frame in the transition that does not include video from each side of the cut. Don't use this frame is what Niro is saying. Go one more frame forward or backward so you don't get the flashing.

You can check whether this is happening to you by inspecting your cuts frame by frame in your final render file. If you get remenants and ghosting then you need to start backing up/forward a frame when you cut up the original.

Is that elaborate enough for you?

Henry GQ 6:19 AM - 13 February, 2009
dj fights are like girl fights, u kinda watch it for a minute before u break it up. u get all excited and shit. like yeah !
btw bon35, too much looping of the same video clips...
but lets not get into a fight about it.

DJ-Phat-AL 11:33 AM - 13 February, 2009
you know what is funny... I wasn't fighting... I just cracked a joke... just that the joke happens to be the truth.

Usually when someone throws up an aggressive long drawn out defense, it means guilty!

but whatever... I have nothing against him as a person. I just don't like that he participated in plagiarism. In the artistic creative world... it is really just not a cool thing to do. It only scars your reputation.

Nothing wrong with looking at others work and getting ideas on how you can create YOUR OWN video mix... but to copy & paste, insert your name and upload for others to "wow" at your work of art... which isn't yours.. come on... that is NOT cool.

Henry GQ 6:34 PM - 13 February, 2009
wow. i totally agree al!
that brian dood is really cheesy for doing that and he can say anything he wants about the law and this and that, but when it comes to it...

as a dj/vj u just dont steal someone elses work and try and sell it or spit it out to the public as ur own.

now if u wanna claim that shit as ur own in ur own club where u spin, eh thats still wrong but ur not spittin it out on a global stage

so brian gets the thumbs down in my book.
Demon 6:38 PM - 13 February, 2009
I'd like to see the work that was stolen from Brian or an example of a video he made for someone else with their name over his. I'm not buying until I see it.
Rebelguy 6:43 PM - 13 February, 2009
I doubt he will respond.
djrayray0981 7:03 PM - 13 February, 2009
I have some here. I like his sh!t, because what he does, is he combines all my favorite VJ remixers together. He'll take a piece of DJ-Phat-AL Vidz who I think is dope, and he'll take some clips from D-Twizzle,DJ king,Freebird, and Crush and combine them together. He's got all my favorite VJ remixers on in one VID. Sh!t is dope.

I'm just waiting for A-Swift to start posting up some of his VIDZ. And hope Brian Dawg puts him in the mix. Sh!t would be off the chain.
Henry GQ 7:06 PM - 13 February, 2009
well..thats true
i guess u would have to see what he stole and see if it would be too hard to duplicate, therefore u must steal it.
i will be honest i hear some shit on crooklynclan that i can do myself, fuck why pay money for something when u can do it urself?

i know of a dj in my city that retags everything in his own name, and the owner and manager thinks hes talented(talented in retagging shit hahaha)

but this dood cant even mix kool-aid so why not act like ur shit is the bomb and show it off...
and get more gigs or nights because people go wow...u did that ?
i mean if this is tru about brian, he might be scoring more gigs off of someones shit...
it comes down to the money...the power ...and the respect

because those three will score u more gigs :)

that will never happen because its very unlikely that i would post a current banger for public use. so brian will have to keep jacking those other cats.

I'm back. I'm not going to say anything on this thread as Phat Al immediately hijacked the thread and switched the topic (again) towards me. He seems to be completely obsessed with me. Alright.....

So, instead of seeing this thread consumed anymore on a subject that has nothing to do with the original post (very sorry BON35), I'm going to start a new topic about the issue of "stealing clips from other existing video remixes" and if it is right or wrong. That will be my last post on this topic.

I invite you to join in on the debate........
