so i'm exporting my FCP sequence to Compressor, drop in my setting and destination and hit submit. about 15 min into encodeing and error log comes up telling me "failed to add markers to movie -2014". i have a in-point and a out-point in my sequence. any thoughts on what i'm doing wrong. thanks.

did you try clearing the in and out point? do you need them in there? maybe trim the sequence on the timeline and resubit to compressor and see if that fixes it.
i've never seen that error.

Thanks. Yeah i set in and out points. Then got rid of them. Same results. So i just started forming a new output setting in Compressor and it seems to be good now. Don't know what the issue was. So after several hours of editing and tweaking settings i'm encoding the first Full Video exported from FCP. Still waiting... You weren't shit'n compressor takes days.

I kept having this problem so i hunted in the apple forums. Apparently there's an issue/bug with the 'hinted for streaming' H.264 in compressor2 not reading markers right. The file is playable(not on windows) but no steaming info saved and it gives you that error message. They suggested updateing software on the apple site. I think it was 'Propack' (recomended for finalcut pro users),quicktime and a couple others. Anyhow i haven't got the errors and i'm happy with the output quality. I think i can finally start cranking out some edits in FCP. Still wish i can slide more accuratly on the timeline though. I think crush said there's away... Next webex... BTW where do i send my paypal payment:)

This doesn't help your problem, but why not use something higher quality (ProRes422) and archive away those files and then convert to h.264 encoded mp4 files through visual hub?
And I've honestly never seen compressor more than 3 minutes for any video. :) I suppose may be if you have a lot of 3-D stuff from Motion, its possible. But for most videos, I'd hope it wouldn't take TOO long.

i don't think visualhub looks very good. if mediacoder was on mac i would do something like that. i did lots of testing with different workflows/exporting for fcp/compressor/visualhub in the last two weeks. fcp to compressor yields the best results (less blocky). 3 min video takes about 35min (without deinterlacing). that's not bad for me.
here is the final mp4 from fcp/compressor (doesn't play on PC)

and vegas/mediacoder.
