Serato Video General Discussion

Talk about Serato Video and Video-SL.

Well... I'm an idiot, bought a new laptop, now I need a Mac

I don't want to waste the money again, going to go with the Macbook Pro. I can not afford a brand new one, so I need to get used.

It says you need a 2 gig processor or higher, but I don't want to make a bad mistake... is 2 gigs too low or will I be fine with that? My budget is only around $1200.00

Thanks,

Matt

i'd say 2.4Ghz is minimum for good quality

I run last years model its 2.4ghz and i ran it for about two weeks wth only 2gb of ram and ran fine. I did upgrade to 4gb of ram. I always suggest upping your ram. MAKE SURE YOU GET DDR2 RAM IF YOU GET LAST YEARS MODEL DDR3 IS ONLY FOR BRAND NEW MACBOOKS AND MACBOOK PROs!!!!!!!!

These guys are so right!

Definately more than 2ghz and definately as much RAM as you can squeeze into the thing!

Oh, and definately a mac!

Don't worry though, I, and many others have done the same as you!

That means your looking at a 2.13 or something like that. Bump that and get at least a 2.4 you said in your post you don't want to waste money. I have both PC and MAC and both work fine. Yet if you buy a older macbook you will not be able to get all the effects to work,,so don't waste you time just go to apple and buy a refrub you may be able to get one for 1400.... just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the help everyone.

I just purchased a 2.4ghz model with the Nvidia 256 mb card, and the guy upgraded the ram to 4 gigs.

Total cost to me was $1300, found it on Craigslist.

I was running video on a MBP 2.16 Core 2 Duo with 4 gigs of Ram and an ATI Radeon X1600 with 128mb of Ram and was able to get all the transitions and effects to work. The only one I had issues with was the melt. All my setting were in the middle as far as quality and buffer.

I recently upgraded to the last gen 2.5 with 512MB video card. I can max the quality and buffer settings but I still have issues with the Melt transition.

Really on the Your Mac when you say truouble what do you mean? I say this because even my PC can handle it and to be honest I haven't tried it on my mac and it's a 2.5 like yours....

Allsounds I hope you paid for that in person....too many damn scams going on out there...
