Mp3Gain Levels

DJ XTURNAL 12:15 AM - 11 March, 2006
What's up,
What does everyone autogain their levels at in Mp3Gain? Especially the house DJ's? I need a good level for when I'm at the club.

DJ XTURNAL 4:09 AM - 11 March, 2006
no doubt, thanks nik
DJLorrence 7:45 AM - 11 March, 2006
nik do a majority of citizens in germany speak english?
nik39 1:46 PM - 11 March, 2006
Lorrence, I think so.
nik39 1:47 PM - 11 March, 2006
In Germany you have to learn at least one foreign language in school, and the most popular is english, then french/latin.
illkid 3:43 PM - 11 March, 2006
but nik your english is not just learned from school, right?
boabmatic 3:43 PM - 11 March, 2006
I use 94
nik39 9:50 PM - 11 March, 2006
ill, hm, I've been listening to (english) hiphop since I was 12, and I try to understand what the lyrics are about. That helped improving my english. Plus I worked in the UK for 2 months. Dont know if that had any big impact ;)
illkid 10:07 PM - 11 March, 2006
nicht schlecht^- hab grad gesehen du hast schon gut erfahrung mit laptops, vielleicht kannst du mir ja bei der qual der wahl helfen =)
nik39 10:13 PM - 11 March, 2006
Well there is already a thread which has list of hundreds of working configurations, here scratchlive.net <- click. You can also check my profile if you want to know about my working setup. :)
illkid 10:38 PM - 11 March, 2006
aite thx
DJLorrence 12:54 AM - 12 March, 2006
are you better at typing it then speaking it?

cause i can understand chinese awesome, and speak it like a white boy, but can't read or write worth a damn.
nik39 12:58 AM - 12 March, 2006
I think I can speak better than write. My written english is often very ugly and sounds complicated. And at other times it sounds to simple... typical symptom of average hiphop listener, language is simple, but I try to express it in better words where I often fail :( The thing is, usually you get better the more you write, but only if there is someone who corrects you and points out what/how to say things in a better way. Unfortunately... no one does :-/
DJLorrence 1:23 AM - 12 March, 2006
dude, your english your typing is pretty damn good.
nik39 1:30 AM - 12 March, 2006
Ah thanks, but it could be better, I am by far not satisfied. :-/ I cant keep up with posts from click for example, every second word I have to look up in a dictionary. Not even thinking of being able to write like him. I am willed to learn, its just that I need some teaching ;)
djtk 1:57 AM - 12 March, 2006
has anyone got mp3gain to work flawless yet. i did a search on the board, and it seems that mp3gain either doesn't level all songs equally, brings the gains down too low, or ruins the tags. is there another application for mac that is better than mp3gain.
DJLorrence 2:02 AM - 12 March, 2006
willled-willing
DJLorrence 2:02 AM - 12 March, 2006
actually maybe willed could work
nik39 2:16 AM - 12 March, 2006
Now you got me confused like click does all the time ;)

djtk, mp3gain runs fine here, it doesnt mess up tags for me. But there is a problem, sometimes it doesnt analyzes the correct volume. If you know of any other (preferrable free) app which does a better job, let us know.
DJLorrence 2:18 AM - 12 March, 2006
hey nik, how do you say Racecar backwards?
nik39 2:28 AM - 12 March, 2006
Haha. :)
DJLorrence 2:36 AM - 12 March, 2006

capo di exmixah 2:54 AM - 12 March, 2006

DJ Evil One 3:26 AM - 12 March, 2006
what's dope is as a kid my dad hated me talking "hip-hop" and kids in other countries learn english by it...go figure.
illkid 10:44 PM - 15 March, 2006
im a dog spell it backwards--
DeezNotes 10:57 PM - 15 March, 2006
I use 93db too. It's a good balance.

I sometimes compensate for those tracks that aren't quite "right." At home (while running SSL) if I come across a track, I'll press CTRL-E (I think), open MP3gain, drag the track into it and adjust the db if necessary. I could use SSL, but I have one way of leveling files and I like to keep it uniform.

It messes with my tags sometimes and I have to rename them. Otherwise it seems to work pretty good.
Dj KaGeN 8:48 PM - 8 June, 2006
Never had an issue. Every mp3 in my invertory has been run thru it.
DJUltimate 10:46 PM - 8 June, 2006
^same here. It took about 32 hours to run them all through but MAN was it worth it! Haven't had any issues yet. (knock on wood)
DJ Nat 2:47 AM - 9 June, 2006
No probs here, occasionally it cant gain a file or 2 but thats it.
boabmatic 8:17 AM - 9 June, 2006
on the files it can't do its normally due to have an old ID3 Tag version..
dtism 8:17 AM - 17 January, 2007
I have been having trouble with it too. Tracks usually say they're clipping in it, then if I gain them down to the recommended 89.0dB they seem way too quiet in serato.

I'll give 93dB a try, but it would be great to be able to see the waveform of each track it's working on.
