How To Multi-Track Record Using Cubase Essential 4?

I'm using the Dell Laptop in my sig running Cubase Essential 4, and I'm trying to Multi-Track Record. I'm a DJ so I have my Macbook Pro running my Serato Scratch Live software via a interface, and then my TTM-57SL mixer is hooked up to my Dell Laptop via USB to pick up the Audio coming out of my mixer.
I have contacted both Scratch Live support and Cubase while I was hooking everything up. I just had way too many things going on today but I should have tried everything out while their tech support was still open to make sure everything would work the way it supposed to but I was just too busy.
I have two tracks setup in cubase Track 1 is Mono Left-In stereo and Track 2 is Mono Right -In stereo. What I'm trying to do is have both channels record at the same time and just pick up one channel at a time depending on where my crossfader is on my mixer, or have them start recording simultaneously as to whenever I move my fader all the way to one side or they other, one track will stop and the other will start recording.
I'm trying to make a mix that separates everything so I can go back and just line all of my tracks up, and then all of my mixes will be perfect which will also allow for easier mastering and editing afterwards.
All help is greatly appreciated.

My problem is that I can't get each turntable to record separtely to each track. Like I want the left turntable to record to Track 1 which is setup Mono (Left-In Stereo) and the right turntable is setup Mono (Right-In Stereo).
I want to just start recording both tracks at the same time right, but if the crossfader is all the way to the left then only Track 1 will pickup the signal, and if the crossfader is to the right, only Track 2 will pickup the signal. And if the crossfader is in the middle then ofcourse Track 1 & 2 will both pickup signals. What happens now is that if I have both Tracks recording it will only record in the Track that is highlighted no matter where the crossfader is.
So how do I setup it up so that I can record the left turntable in to Track 1 and the Right into Track 2 all at the same time without stopping or highlighting a different track. I just want to start the recording and then let it switch to which Tracks corresponding to my crossfader.

You have to use the Rane TTM57 Recording utility (can be found under downloads). Then you have to say ASIO (or Core Audio) channel A = PGM1 pre (or postfader) and ASIO channel B = PGM2 pre.

Aight I figured it out to successfully Multi-Track Record in Cubase Essential 4
1. Under File, then preferences, then under editing go to project & mixer,
In here you need to uncheck "Enable Record On Selected Track" as well as "Enable Solo On Selected Track"
2. You need to add 2 mono audo tracks. Set Track 1 to Left - Stereo In and Track 2 to Right - Stereo In
3. Make sure the TTM-57SL is selected under Device Setup
4. Make sure that both of the tracks have the red record icon lighted enabling the tracks to record.
5. Please do not forget this step...... Make sure that the Left channel is panned all the way to the left on your mixer and the Right channel is panned all the way to the right.
6. Press Record on the transport bar and enjoy mixing, scratching, recording, being creative or whatever is you intend to do.

It works fine with stereo channels.
At least it did for me.

what software are you using to record with? And hopefully the new calbo of SSL & Albeton Live will allow you to do everything on 1 pc. I mean it should def. b possible for all the newer computers especially mac's.

nik39 how do you setup your cubase different than mine? How do you get the stereo tracks to work instead of mono as well?

Sorry, I don't know right now. I will have to fire up my mac, get all the backup dvds of my last project and start Cubase... but not now ;)
