Yesterday, I sound checked my DDJ-SX and it was fine. 10 minutes later, no sound would go out through the mains or through the cue on the headphones. The LED was registering, but no sound.
I turned the unit off and on again and rebooted my computer. When relaunching Serato DJ, first, it wouldn't recognize the DDJ-SX. Then, when it initially started to register, both decks gave me a "$NAME ID" message before fully loading. After that, the audio just came in as scattered noise pops.
I would've thought it was my computer seeing as how I was DJing outside in 110+ degree heat. But when we scrambled to set up a TTM 57SL and run ScratchLive, it ran fine for the rest of the day.
I had already been having an issue with the FX not DISENGAGING after triggering them. I've made sure to download the latest version of Serato DJ and the firmware for the DDJ-SX. So I'm sure this must be a defect in the unit.

Hey DJ Day Won,
Thanks for getting in touch,

1. Do you still have the same issues now if you try use your DDJ-SX and Serato DJ?
-- Or is the DDJ-SX ok when its not so hot?
2. Are you able to install Serato DJ onto another computer?
-- This will help us determine if your DDJ-SX has the issue / your computer.
Things to check,
1. Always have your DDJ-SX plugged directly into your Macbook.
2. Try both available USB ports on your Mac.
3. Try another couple of USB cables.
4. Try plugging your DDJ-SX power adapter into another power socket.
Let me know how you get on :)
Thanks.
Thanks for getting in touch,

Given that I had already been having problems with the unit, I traded it in for another DDJ-SX. I'm starting to think that the heat may be playing a BIG factor. The new unit worked fine for MOST of the day. Somewhere around the 5hr mark, it kinda tweaked out on me again. This time, the audio just dropped out. The channel that I had an iPod hooked up to still sent out audio and after rebooting the program and getting a bit MORE shade, everything seemed to work fine. Any chance that I'm frying the sound card beyond recovery in the unit?
Thanks for getting back to me.

Hey DJ Day Won,
Where abouts do you have the DDJ-SX setup?
-- How are you powering the unit?
-- Check the power cables / power multi socket adapters. Make sure none are faulty.
Can you explain this further please.
Did the MASTER output signal stop and not continue until you restarted Serato?
Or did the audio for that one channel drop and once you loaded another track it was fine?
So it sounds like the issue has something to do with your laptop / the software.
-- Since the DDJ-SX continued to play your iPod with no issues.
1. Have you checked your library for corrupt files?
2. Have you analyzed your music library?
3. Do you use any external drives?
-- How big is the drive?
-- How much free space is on it?
-- How is it connected to your Mac?
4. Do you use any other USB devices?
-- Keyboards / mouses?
Thanks :)

I have the DDJ-SX set up on a stand provided by the hotel that has vent plates cut into it and a high powered fan as well as an evaporative air cooler underneath it to try to keep cool air circulating around the unit and the laptop.
I plug the DDJ-SX into a Monster power conditioner into the inputs that are set up for devices with digital signals. All of the cords seem to be fine. All of the cords for the DDJ-SX are brand new since they came with the new unit I just swapped out last week. The one other thing I noticed (sorry, forgot to mention this) was that the buttons on the DDJ-SX seemed to freeze until I reopened Serato DJ.
Around 5hrs, the audio started to clip a little bit and then went out completely on both decks. The wave signals would still run on the screen. But no audio would come out of either side. This didn't remedy itself until I restarted the program. But I let it sit for a few minutes before trying to reopen it.
I have checked my library for corrupt files and cleared them all out. And I have analyzed my files although seeing as how there doesn't seem to be beat grids set up for all of the tracks I play, I'm not sure if they all processed.
My drive is a 750GB with 274GB of free space left.
I connect the DDJ-SX directly to the Mac via the USB cable. The only other thing I have hooked up to the other USB port is a cooling fan pad.

Let me just say I REALLY appreciate you taking the time to go this in depth with this.

Hey DJ Day Won,
Thanks for that detailed information.
Is this your internal hard drive?
Or is this an external drive you plug in via USB?
Your overall library size may be causing you some issues...but its best to go through some other troubleshooting steps first just to make sure.
Are you able to remove the USB fan pad and have a mix at home for an hour or two to see if you have the same issues?
USB devices can cause weird issues sometimes. Like steeling power away from other USB devices, which can make them become unresponsive / do really strange things.
1. Remove all USB devices.
2. Connect your DDJ-SX directly to your Macbook USB port.
3. Launch Serato DJ 1.2
Have a mix for an hour or 2 and see if you have the same issues.
Please let me know how you get on :)
Thanks!
