Well overall I'm impressed. I used to have Final scratch but obviously with all of it problems and the impending release of TFS2 it had to go.
I've just set it all up, unlike TFS its all set up and playing within 5 minutes which I'm very impressed with as TFS took about 2 weeks whilst I ordered a compatible laptop!
The only initial comments I have really and perhaps someone might be able to tell me if I'm missing something. The output levels seem to be quite low, I'm having to turn my mixer gains right up to get a proper signal level out of it. I've used the master gain (thats right up) and have turned the individual gains up as far I can before they distort but my mixer gains are still near the top.
Secondly I seem to be getting pitch drift, I assume that might be to do with setup although I'm thinking I may have a high background noise to signal level ratio? Decks are grounded etc this is one problem I never had in TFS
I'm sure I'll work through the issues but overall I'm pretty chuffed with it, the extra features like markers and beatmatching have been well thought out.

There's a thread on that on the board here, according to Serato it's being worked at.....
You can find about this and how to deal with it (enable drift compensation in setup) in the 'known issues' section of this board.

Make sure you download the latest version to be able to active drift compensation in the setup! Also make sure the "spinning wheel" (where you can see the pitch percentage) shows A or B depending on which side of the vinyl you are using (A>10 min side and B>15 min side). You can change it manually by clicking on the letter. Also if you are doing long electronica mixes, I would recommend using the 15 min side at 45rpm (that's how I've gotten the best results).

yes, output volume is lower than FS.
in the meantime, you can download free and use "mp3 gain" software to set all your mp3 tracks to a default gain level (94.5 is the max level i suggest to you) and download last SSL version to avoid pitch drifting (last version has a pitch drifting compensation tool).
the new SSL vinyls will have no pitch drift. they will be released soon...
enjoy your SSL! it is really awesome!
