Whats up everybody im sorta kinda new to the Dj world, and let me start off by saying i take this craft very serious so im open for any suggestions and constructive criticism pointers and advice lately ive been stuck in between deciding what unit or what kind of unit to begin my journey in the Dj world. i recently ordered the DDJ SX but just saw the CDMP 7000 but kinda like the way it displays the track info also usb and sd slots (many options) and like i said i really dont have that much knowledge on equipment yet. as for as the CDMP 7000 and the CDJ 700 are they the same size? what are the difference between the two? you guys feel free to suggest or provide any helpful info or what unit would you suggest thats kinda affordable with a 1200 budget

2 CDJ2000's and a DJM900. Or 2 Tech12's and a Rane 62. or any combination of those.

If your buying CD decks you're absolutely bat shit crazy, check your self into the loony bin and eat the key crazy, to not buy Pioneer CDJ's. One exception is the Denon 3900's But in that case I would still ask if you were dropped on your head.

The DDJsx is the top of the controller game so if you're going to do things on the cheap thats is your best bet.

You are nuts if you get Gemini. You will waste your money cause you will have to buy new gear a year later.

After I've said my piece on that, what are you gonna use the gear for?

Without knowing what your style of DJing is and what you will be using it for, I would say all around catch all is the DDJ - SX. Personally I use my DDJ-SX for mobile gigs and small bar gigs. Its just a much more easier and compact set up. Specially if I am carrying speakers too. For my club gigs, its TT's or CDJs. I don't have to bring sound.

For practicing I kinda go back and forth between my controller and my decks.

Much like there are different types of screwdrivers to fit each different type of screw, you also have different equipments to suit your need.

As catch all though, you can't go wrong with a DDJ-SX. It has a good layout, so if you go into a club that has a Pioneer set up, it won't be so foreign to you.

I think it would help narrow down if you tell us what you plan on using it for primarily.

Good advice here, if on a budget, you might wanna consider a pair of used cdj1000mk3. They are good builds, and same feel as the "new" industry standard cdj2000. For the ultimate feel however, technics 1210's and a rane mixer is unbeatable IMO.

I have had 1200,1210, CDJ 500, CDJ Mk1,Mk2,Mk3 and currently have the DDJ-SX. My buddies use to buy Gemni shit all the time and they paid for it as it was always broke and they had to fix it. I have to admit I was not a big fan on controllers but this DDJ-SX is the real deal you get a lot for the money you spend. As an old school dj I say the thing I love the most about the controller is the weight and size. There is no replacement for vinyel for scracthing but the controller is not bad if the jog wheel were bigger it would really be the shit.

Me too, I like the platters on my SX, even though for static platters, I prefer cdj1000/2000...
But I'll never sell my technics...
